As a member of Ursa Major's Additive Manufacturing team, this role involves addressing issues with state-of-the-art manufacturing equipment, as well as installation/modification of supplementary systems to keep parts moving. This role demands a high attention to detail, a hands-on self-starter mentality, and desire to grow & contribute to Ursa’s mission in a small team environment. Your contributions will enable the future of advanced manufacturing for rocket propulsion systems.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Install/modify/remove electrical circuits of all voltages and phases (1-phase/3-phase, 120V/208V/480V)
  • Maintain, prevent and correct failures of equipment including, but not limited to, laser powder bed fusion printers (metal 3D printers), EDMs, CNC grinder, mill, lathe, etc.
  • Support engineering, additive manufacturing (AM) operations, and R&D teams with infrastructure upgrades, machine installations, and layout changes as needed
  • Quickly adapt to a modular work environment regarding changes needed to the facility to ensure production is always moving forward (air, Argon, cable/electrical management/modification)
  • Support and uphold a world-class standard for facility cleanliness, organization, and preventative maintenance
  • Conduct regular audits and self-inspections to ensure readiness for audits, customer tours, or regulatory inspections always
  • Troubleshoot equipment and facility issues, minimizing downtime and ensuring high system reliability
  • Collaborate with Additive Manufacturing Technicians to address issues with the equipment used in the printing process
  • Maintain communication with all involved regarding facility adjustments, changes or anything that may affect the work of others
  • Perform inspections of equipment where needed to maintain safe working environment (forklift, crane, etc.)
  • Vendor communication for basic facility tasks

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated hands-on ability by completing a project to build/rebuild complex machinery or mechanical/electrical systems, examples include rebuilding an engine, re-wiring aspects of a home, installing industrial equipment, etc.
  • 1-3 years of experience in facilities and maintenance roles within high-pace manufacturing or high-precision production environments
  • Desire to perform hands-on work for most of the day
  • Experience troubleshooting issues with any available resources (machine manuals, internet, trial & error, etc.)
  • Able to lift and carry up to 60 lbs
  • Ability to maintain physical activity and stand for extended periods
  • Valid driver's license; good driving record 
  • Drug testing required

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years of experience in facilities and maintenance roles within aerospace, additive manufacturing, or high-precision production environments
  • Licensed Electrician, Industrial/Electrical Technician Certification or equivalent, or experience dealing with 3-phase systems
  • Forklift/scissor lift experience
  • Any experience with 3D printing

 

Classification: Full-Time, Non-Exempt
