1. CENTER LEADERSHIP: Serve as the University expert on factors and practices related to COE student success related to clinical experiences. Provide innovative solutions and lead the CSS in manner which ensures students have access to services and information needed to succeed while supporting the COE and University mission and strategic initiatives. Manage the workshop programming of the CSS and COE by creating and facilitating professional events and workshops in collaboration with others as appropriate. Coordinate and oversee required professional development for B-12 teachers, university supervisors, university faculty, staff, and students regarding the clinical experience process. Evaluate and conduct research on all phases of clinical practice, including the changing nature of clinical practices, the effectiveness of candidates, and the satisfaction of placement sites. Remain engaged with professional organizations and bodies that support the work of the CSS. Approach and solve problems in an effective, innovative and collaborative manner while ensuring policies and procedures are upheld and relevant
2. PLACEMENT / Clinical EXPERIENCE STUDENT COORDINATION: Coordinate and oversee the placement, orientation, and supervision of all candidates in clinical sites in accordance with the requirements of state and professional licensure guidelines. In partnership with faculty and site personnel, evaluate all candidates to assess readiness for clinical placement in regard to knowledge, skills and dispositions. Confer throughout the semester with university supervisors, cooperating teachers, WSU Faculty, and others, regarding progress of students in clinical placements. Take a leadership role in resolving issues related to student success, including ensuring policies and procedures are updated and relevant.
3. PLACEMENT / Clinical EXPERIENCE SITE MANAGEMENT: Identify and facilitate clinical placements for COE students through interactions with university faculty and clinical sites. Consult with cooperating placement site administrators and professionals. Recommend, coordinate, and evaluate university supervisors, in consultation with academic programs. Initiate and facilitate contracts with placement and clinical sites on behalf of the COE. The Director will maintain and service placement / clinical agreements and contracts, including establishing and maintaining digital information systems.
4. PERSONNEL MANAGEMENT. Participate in the in the hiring and selection process for center employees and once hired oversee their orientation, daily performance, professional development opportunities and assessment. Maintain a schedule based on the annually approved operations and staffing plan. Lead regular staff meetings and create a department culture committed to professional development, teamwork, and continuous improvement. Oversee the hiring of student employees within the center.
5. COMPLIANCE AND MAINTENANCE. Maintain and monitor the successful operations of the CSS. Work collaboratively with COE leadership in developing and implementing new policies and procedures. Ensure compliance with relevant licensing standards, including PELSB and other accrediting bodies, as well as University operations and quality standards. Maintain all documents and requirements to maintain usable and meaningful data in various programs including but not limited to Education Learning Cloud (ELC), Knowledge Lake and Workday.
6. SERVE AS MEMBER OF THE COE LEADERSHIP TEAM. Be a leader and innovator within the CSS and College, seeking out new ways of carrying out the functions of the Center. Participate in discussions and decision making with the COE leadership team and COE program leads to ensure a holistic approach to the management of COE programs and services. Collaborate with other COE Center Directors / Academic Department Chairs to ensure College success and adherence to policies and procedures.
7. Perform other duties as assigned to ensure the smooth functioning of the department and maintain the reputation of Winona State University. Including but not limited to participating on committees and work groups and participating in professional development opportunities.
Salary Range: $54,344 - $116,608; Commensurate with qualifications and experience
Minimum Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Education, Student Affairs, Counseling, Leadership, or related field.
- or related field
- Three (3) years professional experience in an educational setting
- Administrative or project management experience
- Must pass a State of Minnesota background study
Preferred Qualification
- Valid Teaching License
- Experience working in high-demand environment and ability to meet deadlines with a high level of attention to detail
- Experience creating and maintaining positive relationships with diverse constituents, including students, colleagues, the community, and other external partners
- Experience serving as a strategic advisor and subject matter expert to leadership
- Knowledge of field supervision and development
- Ability to plan, develop, budget and implement operational planning
- Ability to effectively and efficiently utilizing technology to conduct business (i.e.: Microsoft Office suite, computerized record keeping, and web application software)
