Job Description – Product Testing Engineer

Department: Engineering
Team: Product Testing

Purpose of the Role

The Product Testing Engineer plays a crucial role in ensuring product quality, functionality, and reliability before any project, feature, or firmware release reaches serial production.
This role exists to:

  • Validate and test projects, firmware releases, and new product features

  • Ensure test coverage meets the full project scope

  • Identify, document, and report edge cases and unexpected behaviors

  • Improve overall product quality before customer delivery

  • Develop and maintain advanced validation setups that support both the Product Testing team and other engineering teams

  • Accelerate testing processes while ensuring accuracy and realism by emulating real‑world product usage

The ultimate mission is to enhance product robustness, reduce failures in the field, and support continuous improvement across the engineering organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute comprehensive validation and characterization tests for products, projects, firmware releases, and new features

  • Ensure all project releases meet high quality standards and follow validation criteria

  • Improve existing tests and create new test procedures to increase efficiency and depth

  • Design and implement validation setups and testing equipment to support automated and manual testing

  • Automate repetitive testing tasks to increase speed, consistency, and accuracy

  • Collaborate with development and production engineering teams to ensure testing alignment and address discovered issues

  • Characterize product performance, analyze test results, and report findings clearly

  • Support validation at the production line when required (automation, test fixtures, data analysis, etc.)

  • Document test results, defects, edge cases, and improvement opportunities

  • Contribute to continuous improvement of processes, tooling, and testing methodologies

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field

  • Strong understanding of electronics, circuits, debugging, and measurement tools (oscilloscope, multimeter, power analyzers, etc.)

  • Ability to design and execute tests with high rigor and attention to detail

  • Analytical mindset with strong problem solving capabilities

  • Good understanding of firmware behavior, embedded systems, and failure modes

  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within engineering teams

  • Good documentation and communication skills

  • Focus on quality, reliability, and continuous improvement

Nice to Have Skills

(Not mandatory but highly beneficial)

  • PCB design experience (Altium, KiCad, or similar)

  • Experience with automated test setups, scripting, or test automation frameworks

  • Knowledge of microcontrollers, communication protocols (UART, I²C, SPI, CAN, BLE, etc.)

  • Experience with product validation methodologies (DFT, DFMEA, reliability testing, HALT/HASS)

  • Familiarity with production testing or industrial test equipment

  • Experience with data analysis (Python, MATLAB, or similar tools)
