Role Summary

Our mission at HubSpot is to help millions of organizations grow better. As Director, Compensation Programs, you’ll define and lead the strategy, design, and evolution of our global compensation ecosystem - ensuring it scales with our growth and reflects our commitment to fair, transparent, and competitive pay.

You’ll oversee the full compensation program lifecycle, from foundational architecture and annual cycles to new program innovation, while building the infrastructure and processes that enable consistent, data-driven decisions across the business.

In this role, you’ll lead and develop a high-performing team and act as a trusted partner to senior leadership, influencing critical talent and business decisions. This is a player-coach role where you’ll operate at both strategic and executional levels to drive meaningful impact across the organisation.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead and develop a team of compensation program managers, fostering a high-performing culture grounded in accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement
  • Own the end-to-end strategy and execution of global compensation programs, including annual cycles (merit, bonus, equity) and the design of new initiatives that support business and talent priorities
  • Define and evolve HubSpot’s compensation infrastructure, including job architecture, leveling frameworks, and market-aligned cash and equity structures that scale with organisational growth
  • Partner cross-functionally with Finance, Legal, Payroll, People Operations, and People Technology to deliver seamless, compliant, and efficient compensation programs and systems
  • Drive optimisation of compensation tools, workflows, and data infrastructure, enabling scalable processes, strong governance, and high-quality decision-making
  • Lead reporting and analytics capabilities that provide actionable insights, track program effectiveness, and inform executive-level decisions
  • Act as a trusted advisor and escalation point for complex compensation matters, guiding senior stakeholders with clear, data-driven recommendations
  • Establish and maintain scalable processes, documentation, and playbooks to ensure consistent, equitable, and transparent compensation practices across the organisation
  • Lead communication and change management strategies for major compensation initiatives, ensuring clarity, alignment, and adoption across stakeholders

What You’ll Bring

Required Qualifications
  • 12+ years of progressive compensation experience in public companies, including people management experience
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop compensation professionals, with a player-coach mentality
  • Deep expertise in compensation best practices, program design, and market benchmarking
  • Proven track record of delivering complex, cross-functional compensation initiatives at scale
  • Strong executive presence with the ability to influence and advise senior and C-suite leaders
  • Advanced analytical skills and proficiency with Workday and Google Sheets
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable insights for diverse audiences
  • Comfortable operating in ambiguity and building from the ground up in a fast-paced environment
