Staff Scientist – Upstream Applications

As a Staff Scientist (Upstream), you will serve as a technical leader supporting customers across Southeast Asia (SEA), delivering expert guidance on industry-leading bioprocessing solutions. You will work alongside a committed team supporting customers from early-stage process development through commercial GMP manufacturing. We are looking for a motivated and accountable individual who thrives in a customer-facing environment and is passionate about helping customers make the world healthier, cleaner, and safer.

Role & Responsibilities

· Provide expert-level technical and applications support for single-use bioprocessing equipment and workflows to customers.

· Partner with sales and business development teams to support pre- and post-sales activities, driving customer success and revenue growth.

· Deliver technical seminars, webinars, product demonstrations, and customer training on upstream bioprocessing, single-use technologies, and automation control software.

· Serve as a technical authority on cell line development, media development services, process scale-up, workflow optimization, and custom design of single-use consumables.

· Lead on-site customer engagements, including GEMBA activities, to assess workflows, identify improvement opportunities, and resolve technical challenges.

· Support customer troubleshooting, quality investigations, and the development of test protocols for process validation in collaboration with quality and manufacturing teams.

· Act as the Voice of Customer, providing feedback on product performance, quality, and innovation to internal stakeholders.

· Support field service engineering teams during installation, commissioning, and IOQ qualification activities.

· Serve as a subject matter expert for the existing product portfolio and support new product innovation (NPI) initiatives.

· Maintain awareness of industry trends, competitive technologies, and market developments through participation in conferences, trade shows, and industry events.

Requirements –

· Advanced tertiary qualification (Master’s degree or higher) in Biotechnology, Biochemical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Molecular Biology, or a related discipline.

· Minimum of 8 years of relevant upstream bioprocessing experience, gained within GMP manufacturing environments and/or MSAT or process development teams.

· Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively across functions and serve as a key interface between customers, sales, product management, and quality organizations.

· Prior commercial or customer-facing experience is preferred.

· Ability to work independently in controlled laboratory and manufacturing environments, with the use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as required (e.g., safety glasses, gowning, gloves, lab coat, hearing protection).

· Willingness to travel up to 40% within Southeast Asia (SEA).
