The Position:

We are seeking a highly skilled Field Application Scientist (FAS) with expertise in laboratory informatics and digital transformation within the life sciences industry. This role is responsible for configuring, optimizing, and supporting LIMS platforms to accurately reflect scientific workflows and regulatory requirements.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience implementing and supporting modern LIMS platforms such as Labbit, L7 Informatics, Benchling, LabVantage, and excels at translating laboratory processes into scalable, maintainable system configurations. This role bridges the gap between scientific workflows, enterprise software, and lab user enablement. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Partner with Lab Operations and internal stakeholders translating lab processes into LIMS workflows.
  • Configure LIMS objects, workflows, metadata, permissions, and lifecycle states to support scientific and operational needs.
  • Implement and maintain configuration changes supporting new assays, process improvements, and operational scaling.
  • Utilize existing knowledge of the laboratory sciences domain to bridge the gap between science and software to improve end users’ experiences. 
  • Triage and resolve production issues related to LIMS configuration and data flow.
  • Leverage strong communication skills to conduct training and create presentations for users.
  • Collaborate with internal LIMS team, LIMS vendor, Technical Program Management, QA, IT, and lab operations teams.
  • Support validation and testing activities by providing configuration knowledge and system context. 

Who You Are:

Required Qualifications:

  • A strong understanding of the genomics lab environment or laboratory science gained through education, research and/or industry experience 
  • Ability to communicate effectively through written and oral communication
  • Willingness to lead presentations and training for internal stakeholders leveraging clear and professional communication
  • Ability to effectively manage projects using your organizational skills to mitigate scope creep and work towards defined timelines
  • Working understanding of the software development process, along with experience gathering and documenting information such as end-user requirements
  • Experience working with teams to build out requirements and/or designs for end-user solutions
  • Experience working within a laboratory 
  • Experience working with JSON and/or GraphDB
  • LIMS knowledge or past use of lab process-focused software

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in life sciences (e.g., biology, chemistry, genomics, bioinformatics), engineering, or a related field; Master’s preferred.
