An overview of this role
As a Sales Commission Analyst, you'll help ensure that GitLab's sales incentives are accurate, transparent, and aligned with how we support customers. You'll own day-to-day commission calculations, reporting, and first-tier end user support so sales team members are paid correctly and can trust the data that guides their performance. You'll work closely with Sales and Sales Operations, use incentive compensation tools and SFDC to research and resolve compensation questions, and continuously improve processes to make our commission operations more efficient and compliant, including supporting SOX-related documentation and reporting.
What You’ll Do
- Execute accurate worldwide sales commission calculations, reporting, and first-tier end user support using compensation analytics tools.
- Investigate and resolve compensation issues by tracking, researching, and providing clear analysis to stakeholders.
- Interpret and apply all sales compensation plans, ensuring calculations are correct and plan participants are accurately credited for their transactions.
- Track and report on commission plan acceptance and related documentation to support compliance and timeliness.
- Partner with Sales, Sales Operations, and Finance to validate data, clarify policies, and align on compensation decisions.
- Identify, recommend, and implement process improvements that increase efficiency and reduce manual work in commission operations.
- Support SOX compliance through thorough documentation, controls testing support, and audit-ready reporting.
- Prepare ad hoc analyses and contribute to projects that enhance the effectiveness and scalability of GitLab's sales incentive programs.
What You’ll Bring
- Background in accounting, finance, economics, or another quantitative field, or equivalent practical experience
- Experience working with sales incentive programs, including understanding of compensation plans, processes, and procedures
- Experience as an Xactly Incent administrator or power user, with the ability to configure plans, validate commissions, and optimize system performance
- Proficiency interpreting, analyzing, and validating data to support accurate commission calculations and reporting
- Strong attention to detail, with a structured, self-directed approach to problem solving and organization
- Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain findings and resolve issues with cross-functional partners
- Hands-on experience with Salesforce (SFDC),
