The Position
As Head of Global Project Delivery, you report directly to the Head of Global Capex Projects and serve as a key member of the Capex Projects Leadership Team. In this high-impact role, you hold global responsibility for the end-to-end execution of all design and construction projects exceeding CHF 10M within Roche Pharma Technical Operations. You serve as a strategic advisor, providing construction governance to ensure localized projects under CHF 10M align with enterprise standards and operational excellence.
Your key responsibilities:
You provide transformative leadership for the Global Project Delivery function, architecting a multi-year vision and a customer-centric operating model that ensures global alignment and functional excellence.
You oversee and cultivate a high-caliber technical workforce of approximately 50 global employees, while strategically managing a vast network of independent contractors and service providers to execute a multi-billion CHF CAPEX portfolio.
You partner with the PTT Leadership Team and Site Heads to synchronize the capital project portfolio with broader PT objectives, ensuring the seamless realization of global asset strategies.
You spearhead the development of sophisticated business cases for capital investments, ensuring all projects are delivered with optimal sustainability, minimal business disruption, and the highest cost-to-value ratio.
You maintain accountability for project approvals, cost controls, and scheduling, while working in tandem with the Head of Engineering to ensure projects under CHF 10M meet stringent safety and regulatory benchmarks.
You act as the executive sponsor for Project Management and Project Controls, driving the evolution of efficient, world-class processes and developing deep technical expertise across your leadership tier.
You collaborate with Technical Engineering to integrate agile principles and emerging technologies into design standards, ensuring Roche remains at the forefront of global construction trends and cost-effective, sustainable innovation.
Who you are:
You are a strategic and visionary leader with over 20 years of progressive business experience and a 15-year track record specializing in Corporate Design & Construction within the biopharma and life sciences sectors. You are an expert at navigating highly regulated environments and managing large-scale capital portfolios exceeding $100M. You possess a proven ability to transform complex visions into operational reality by leading high-performing, multi-disciplinary global teams.
More specifically, you have:
15+ years leading multi-disciplinary organizations and "leading leaders." Expert in developing global operating models and driving large-scale organizational change.
Deep technical command of Design & Construction (D&C), Project Management, and Facilities Management. Extensive experience directing A&E firms and managing executive-level service provider relationships.
Engineering qualification, BEng, MEng etc, an advanced business degree (MBA) is an advantage.
Advanced capability in optimizing large capital project delivery through data-driven insights and rigorous financial discipline.
Champion of Six Sigma and Lean methodologies to drive cost savings, meet aggressive performance metrics, and ensure project predictability.
Proven ability to develop multi-year strategies, cultivating a culture of innovation, and leading complex organizational transformations
Master communicator and strategic consultant skilled at leveraging deep listening and influential partnership skills to achieve organizational buy-in.
Proactive approach to anticipating business risks while maintaining a relentless drive for execution and compliance.
Due to the broad footprint of Roche sites globally, anticipate significant travel (~30-50%).
