We are searching for the best talent for Senior R&D New Product Development Engineer.
Purpose
Work on most tasks with instructions on the expected overall results. You may receive technical guidance for the most unusual or complex problems; however, you independently determine and develop approaches to solutions.
The role involves working on problems across different areas where information analysis requires the evaluation of identifiable factors. Judgment is exercised within generally defined practices and policies by selecting methods and techniques to obtain solutions.
Erroneous decisions, recommendations, or failure to achieve results would normally result in serious delays to the program or project and significant expenditure of resources. The position provides support in the development of new product processes and technical assistance for transfer to the manufacturing plant in Juarez, as well as during the start of regular production.
You Will Be Responsible For:
In accordance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations, as well as Johnson & Johnson corporate procedures and guidelines, this position:
Applies an intense and diverse knowledge of engineering principles and practices in assignment areas and related fields.
Makes independent decisions regarding engineering problems and methods and represents the organization to resolve important issues and plan and coordinate work.
Utilizes advanced techniques and modifies or extends theories, precepts, and practices within the field and related sciences and disciplines.
Provides supervision and guidance broadly related to requirements, critical situations, new concepts, and policy issues, and consults supervisors regarding unusual problems.
May plan, develop, coordinate, and direct large major engineering projects or a small number of projects with many complex features in a supervisory capacity.
As an individual researcher, carries out complex or new tasks that require new or improved techniques or procedures.
As a specialist staff member, develops and evaluates plans and criteria for a variety of projects and activities to be carried out by others.
Addresses the feasibility and robustness of proposed engineering, product, or equipment evaluation tests when information is insufficient or when confirmation through testing is recommended.
Acts as a staff advisor regarding technical specialties, facility or equipment types, and program functionality.
Technically supervises, coordinates, and reviews the work of a small group of engineers and technicians, estimates manpower and scheduling needs, and assigns work to meet completion dates, or works as an individual researcher or specialist with support from other engineers and technicians.
Implements company policies and procedures related to safety and quality and actively promotes compliance.
Ensures personal and company compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local Health, Safety, and Environmental regulations, policies, and procedures.
Is responsible for the purchase or design of equipment that meets company-established health, safety, and environmental standards.
Conducts design reviews and pre-validation evaluations to ensure safety and environmental soundness during the start of new processes.
Communicates business-related issues or opportunities to the next level of management.
Follows all company guidelines related to Health, Safety, and Environmental practices and, for those supervising staff, ensures subordinates comply with these guidelines and that necessary resources are available and in good condition.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Experience and Education:
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline with nine or more years of related engineering experience.
Master’s degree in a relevant discipline with seven or more years of related engineering experience.
PhD in a relevant discipline with four or more years of related engineering experience.
Significant engineering experience at a complex level.
Experience in the medical device industry is considered a plus.
Knowledge of Six Sigma methodologies is preferred.
Must possess a clear mastery of the practical, theoretical, and experimental foundations of engineering techniques.
Communication skills in English, spoken and written (mandatory)
