As a Firmware Engineer at Micron Technology, Inc., you will build groundbreaking high-performance controller firmware for volatile and non-volatile memory systems. You will assist in the evaluation, creation, build, bench testing, debugging, and failure analyzes of firmware for new high-performance memory controllers and Solid State Drives (SSD) that will improve performance, while reducing power, latency and SoC (System on Chip) complexity for the target sectors. You can expect to partner multi-disciplinary Engineers seek multi-functional product development issues. You will triage failures, file bug reports, and help the development teams with isolating issues.

DEVELOP AND TEST FIRMWARE

  • SSD Products: Develop firmware IP subsystems for SSD products that meet or exceed the requirements of the technical spec matrix; including, but not limited to: Performance, Endurance, Capacity, Functionality, and Quality/Reliability

  • Firmware Quality Assurance: Develop a firmware unit and functional tests that ensures the firmware subsystem meets the quality, functional, and performance requirements required at each integration breakthrough in the product development lifecycle

COMMUNICATION

  • Consistently provide Management, multi-functional team members, and the firmware team with detailed and accurate information. This includes activities within the firmware development organization and project status updates.

  • Multi-functional Collaboration: Develop and maintain collaborative, open, and constructive relationships with peers and management

  • Team Development: Provide technical capability that continuously improves team involvement, morale, and efficiency

REQUIREMENTS

  • Masters or Bachelor’s degree in electrical/Electronic Engineering or Computer Engineering

  • Excellent communication skills.

  • Experience with firmware/embedded programming (primary C programming) and debugging

  • Experience working with storage interfaces ideally PCIE/NVMe is considered a plus.

  • Experience working in NAND would be an advantage

  • At least 2 years or equivalent experience in the embedded systems development field
