Job Title: Senior Director, Strategic Communications, Iberia 

Location: Madrid, Spain 

Reports To: Senior Director, PACS, Iberia  

Role Purpose 

The Senior Director, Strategic Communications is a senior leadership role accountable for shaping and executing Coca Cola’s strategic communications agenda across Iberia within the Europe Operating Unit. These markets are externally visible, socially influential, and critical to the Europe OU’s growth, reputation, and long term license to win. The role defines how the Company builds trust, relevance, and preference with consumers, customers, media, policymakers, and broader society across the assigned geography. 

Operating at the intersection of corporate reputation, brand storytelling, sustainability, and issues management, this role ensures a coherent, consumer centric narrative that aligns commercial priorities with purpose, values, and societal expectations. The Senior Director anticipates external risk, influences public debate, and elevates Coca Cola’s voice on issues that matter most to consumers and communities across the assigned countries. 

This role brings strategic judgment, external insight, and disciplined execution—connecting Europelevel frameworks with strong, locally resonant impact. 

Key Responsibilities 

Strategic Communications Leadership 

  • Define and lead a strategic communications agenda across assigned specific countries / cluster of countries, aligned to business priorities, brand ambition, and Europe OU reputation objectives. 

  • Translate complex commercial, sustainability, and societal priorities into clear, compelling narratives that resonate with consumers and opinion leaders. 

  • Ensure consistency of positioning and tone of voice while enabling market specific cultural relevance. 

Corporate Reputation 

  • Anticipate emerging reputational, societal, and regulatory issues across the assigned countries, providing early insight, risk assessment, and strategic counsel to senior leaders. 

  • Serve as a senior spokesperson on priority issues, as required. 

Media, Influence & External Engagement 

  • Shape and oversee media and influence strategies across assigned specific countries / cluster of countries, strengthening credibility with top tier media, NGOs, industry bodies, and opinion leaders. 

  • Drive proactive agenda setting on priority issues including health and nutrition, sustainability, packaging, and responsible marketing. 

  • Represent Coca Cola in selected external forums, reinforcing thought leadership and trust. 

Brand, Corporate & Sustainability Storytelling 

  • Partner with marketing, sustainability, and public affairs leaders to deliver integrated 360° storytelling across brand, corporate, and purpose led communications for the market. 

  • Bring to life sustainability and social impact commitments through authentic, evidence based communications that matter to consumers and communities locally. 

  • Ensure strong alignment between brand PR, corporate communications, and reputation priorities. 

Market & System Leadership 

  • Lead, coach, and enable country leaders across assigned markets, building capability, consistency, and strategic impact. 

  • Partner closely with bottling partners to align external messaging, reputation priorities, and stakeholder engagement. 

Enterprise Leadership & Governance 

  • Act as a trusted adviser to senior leadership on reputation, external positioning, and complex stakeholder dynamics. 

  • Collaborate closely with Europe OU Strategic Communications to ensure alignment with narratives, standards, and campaigns. 

  • Champion datadriven measurement of reputation and communications effectiveness across the assigned geography. 

Qualifications & Experience 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Affairs, Marketing, or a related field; advanced degree preferred. 

  • 12+ years of progressive experience in strategic communications, corporate affairs, or reputation management within a large, consumer facing organization. 

  • Proven experience leading multi country or cluster communications strategies across diverse markets and cultures. 

  • Deep expertise in corporate reputation, media relations, issues and crisis management. 

  • Strong business acumen with the ability to connect communications strategy to commercial outcomes and consumer impact. 

  • Demonstrated ability to influence senior leaders and lead through complexity and ambiguity. 

  • FMCG, food and beverage, or regulated industry experience strongly preferred. 

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English; local language fluency in Spanish required.
