Job Description
 

Associate Director Sales – Cell Therapy - UK and Ireland

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced sales leader to join Gilead/Kite as Associate Director of Sales for Cell Therapy, for the UK & Ireland. This position is a Field based, National sales leader role, will report into the Business Unit Director, and be part of the Business Unit Leadership team.

In this position you will be managing a group of nine highly experienced Cell Therapy Account Managers (CTAMs).  You will be responsible for leading the sales team to achieve the target volume for Gilead/Kite’s Cell Therapy portfolio across the UK and Ireland. 

The successful candidate will bring a track record of commercial success in highly competitive markets, with experience in driving commercial performance, cross-functional account management and coaching for bold in-call execution. 

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Manage sales team to deliver company and brand volumes across UK&I for Cell Therapy, in line with agreed expenditure

  • Lead, support and coach the CTAM team to deliver against commercial goals, developing field incentives to motivate and reward performance. Set clear performance expectations, addressing underperformance decisively, and building a high‑performing team culture.

  • Recruit, retain and develop team members.  Develop and deliver CTAM training plan, in collaboration with Marketing, to develop team performance which supports commercial execution.  Support individual development to maximise team member potential.

  • Lead Key Account Management process pulling through national strategy into excellent in-field execution – Proactively monitor for insights and market changes, assess risks and opportunities, develop robust local plans, prioritise actions with clear decision making, drive execution.

  • Partner with in-field medical and access leads to ensure seamless alignment of in field execution.  Work cross-functionally to ensure field team are equipped with dashboards, materials and appropriate functional input to maximise local account plans.

  • Establish relationships with key opinion leaders, representing Gilead/Kite leadership to support the delivery of business goals, and support the enhancement of the Cell Therapy service & pathway to alleviate barriers to access

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant codes and policies

Required Knowledge, Experience & Skills:

  • Undergraduate Degree in Life Sciences, business or equivalent

  • Previous pharmaceutical hospital sales experience required – knowledge of the hematology/oncology/cell therapy market preferred

  • Must have commercial leadership experience in the pharmaceutical industry – people management experience preferred. 

  • Ability to understand business performance and market insights, and develop a clear in-field strategy and executional plan

  • Experience working cross-functionally to ensure strategic alignment, deliver in-field excellence, and generate support to maximise commercial success

  • Utilise a good understanding of product and therapeutic disease knowledge to communicate the appropriate use of Gilead/Kite products to key stakeholders

  • Requires minimum of 40% travel for field coaching, and some international travel

  • Experience with UK and Ireland pharmaceutical regulatory requirements and knowledge of the relevant local laws and Codes of Practice preferred.  Must have passed the ABPI Representatives Exam or have the Advanced Professional Programme qualification or if not complete it within the timeframe required by the ABPI Code of Practice.  For Ireland, having passed the MRII exam is preferable but not mandatory.
