Job Description

Divergent is a technology company that has architected, invented, built, and commercialized an end-to-end factory system called the Divergent Adaptive Production System (DAPS) that comprehensively uses machine learning to optimally engineer, additively manufacture, and flexibly assemble complex integrated vehicle structures and subsystems. Products created using DAPS are superior in performance, lower in cost, rapidly customizable to meet mission and customer-specific requirements, faster to market, and scalable on demand to high volume production. Divergent is a qualified Tier 1 supplier to global automotive OEMs, and Divergent is now expanding to support mission critical needs in the Aerospace and Defense sector. Join us to be a part of this transformative journey, where your impact will shape the future of technology and production.

Purpose

The Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Engineer is responsible for developing, implementing, and continuously improving environmental, health, and safety programs across Divergent’s advanced manufacturing operations. This role ensures compliance with regulatory requirements while proactively building a safety-first culture within a highly automated production environment that includes additive manufacturing, robotics, CNC machining, and materials processing. The EHS Engineer will partner closely with manufacturing, facilities, and engineering teams to identify hazards, reduce risk, and implement scalable safety systems that support Divergent’s rapidly growing, high-tech production platform.

The Role

  • Develop, implement, and maintain EHS programs that ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations including OSHA, EPA, and industry standards.
  • Conduct risk assessments, job hazard assessments (JHAs), and incident investigations to identify event causes and implement robust, sustainable corrective actions.
  • Partner with manufacturing and engineering teams to ensure safe design and operation of automated production systems, robotics, additive manufacturing equipment, and CNC operations.
  • Lead environmental compliance initiatives including waste management, air emissions, hazardous materials handling, and sustainability practices.
  • Monitor and maintain safety documentation, procedures, and training records.
  • Develop and deliver EHS training programs for employees, contractors, and leadership.
  • Perform regular audits and inspections of manufacturing, laboratory, and facility environments.
  • Track and analyze safety metrics, incident data, and leading indicators to drive continuous improvement.
  • Support emergency preparedness programs including drills, response plans, and incident management.
  • Collaborate with facilities and operations teams to ensure safe facility expansions, equipment installations, and process changes.

Basic Qualifications
