Associate Manager, Finance

Permanent Contract

Reports To: Director, Finance

Location: Innovation Centre, Carrigtwohill, Cork

Hybrid: 3 Days On-Site Per Week

Position Summary

This role has a broad global scope within the Cork‑based Finance team, providing financial leadership and driving alignment across the Stryker Instruments, OrthoTech, and Endoscopy R&D organizations.

The Associate Manager, Finance is a core R&D finance business partner, acting as a central point for financial consolidation, planning, and performance management. Working closely with Research & Development leadership, the role transforms financial and operational insights into actionable strategic recommendations, identifying opportunities to optimize investment, accelerate growth, and support long‑term business objectives.

Key Areas of Responsibility:

Financial Control, Reporting & Consolidation

  • Act as Innovation Centre controller, owning and leading month‑end, quarterly, budget, and projection cycles.
  • Lead and consolidate R&D financials across all BU and shared functions, including operating spend, headcount, capital
  • Lead global IP&E reporting, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and transparency across all business units.
  • Deliver timely, high‑quality financial reporting and performance insights to leadership.
  • Identify key financial risks, trends, and variances, providing clear, actionable recommendations.

Forecasting, Planning & Governance

  • Coordinate and consolidate projections and budgets in collaboration with finance colleagues.
  • Drive robust, standardized forecasting processes and ensure alignment across all business units and functions in the Innovation Centre.
  • Provide governance and oversight to ensure data integrity, consistency, and adherence to financial standards.

Standardization & Process Improvement

  • Drive a unified and standardized reporting approach across all R&D business units and shared functions in collaboration with finance colleagues.
  • Track and monitor project performance against approved budgets, forecasts, and financial targets.
  • Continuously improve processes, tools, and reporting to enhance efficiency and decision support.

Capital & Project Oversight

  • Own and track capital projects, including budgets, forecasts, approvals, and financial performance.
  • Ensure clear visibility, governance, and control over capital expenditure and investment decisions.

Grants & Compliance

  • Lead RD&I grant application for the site, working with stakeholders across the business.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory, regulatory, and corporate requirements across all international reporting regions.

Business Partnering & Strategic Insight

  • Act as a trusted global finance business partner to R&D and cross‑functional leadership.
  • Translate financial and operational data into meaningful business insights to support both operational and strategic decisions.
  • Identify, evaluate, and present strategic opportunities to enhance business performance, investment prioritization, and long‑term growth.

Qualifications:

Qualification and Experience required:   

  • A recognized professional accounting qualification and preferably a broad business qualification.         
  • 6 Years + post qualification experience working in a multi-national.   
  • A thorough understanding of accounting and financial principals, budgeting, reporting, financial analysis and forecasting.

           

Professional Knowledge:

  • Be able to consume and synthesize large amounts of information and present relevant points concisely.    
  • Working with all disciplines at every level in promoting the development of services, business plans, budget management and cost control.       
  • Ability to manage multiple financial projects, adjust priorities as needed, and meet deadlines.
  • Technically strong in compliance and financial reporting acumen.

  • Proactive, commercially minded, and confident communicator with a strong “can‑do” attitude.

  • Highly organised, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver under tight timelines.
  • Strong technical and compliance mindset, combined with a pragmatic, solutions‑focused approach.
  • Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills; strong financial systems and ERP experience.
