About the role

As a Principal Engineer in Platform R&D you will design, develop, and maintain new or improved solutions for Netskope’s production services. . This resource will lead tactical and strategic infrastructure and product initiatives by designing, building, and managing complex computing systems and processes that facilitate the introduction of new products and services while allowing existing services to scale. In addition, the incumbent will provide technical leadership by sharing best practices and technology trends, and acting as a technical mentor related to the use of systems, products, services, and building scalable system architectures.

Support the development of implementations, service definitions, component interfaces and experimental prototypes to the operations and engineering teams for systems within a product or service family.
Architect, design, build, and manage complex computing systems in order to fulfil operational strategies for Netskope’s services.
Understand, and be able to communicate, the nonfunctional requirements for the system (security, reliability, scalability, maintainability, etc.).
Become a subject matter expert on designated Netskope products, services, and their dependent infrastructure in order to support and improve the reliability, function, and scalability of these solutions.
Act as the technical and agile lead for projects spanning one or more areas, teams, and technologies.
Mentor others in their technology evaluations, technical designs, and technical implementations.

Required skills and experience

12+ years demonstrated expertise in designing, building and managing complex computing systems including 1-2 years experience as a Sr Staff Software Engineer or Lead Engineer.
Comprehensive understanding of computer internal architecture and design to include working knowledge of specific details and design of some variants of the *NIX based operating systems.
Demonstrated ability to develop production-grade distributed and scalable services in collaboration with stakeholders in a distributed workforce environment.
