Verve Therapeutics, a wholly owned subsidiary of Eli Lilly & Company is seeking an Associate Director of Patient Engagement, Enrollment, & Retention that will support the strategy and implementation of patient recruitment and retention efforts across assigned development programs. As Senior Manager or Associate Director of Patient Engagement, Enrollment, & Retention you will be an integrated member of the study team and serve as the patient recruitment and retention subject matter expert. You will lead patient recruitment and retention activities on Phase 1, 2, or 3 gene editing clinical trials, ensuring the overall trial planning includes an appropriate recruitment and retention strategy. In this role, you will collaborate closely with Clinical Operations, Clinical Development, Medical Affairs, CRO teams, Patient Advocacy, and other key partners to design recruitment and retention plans, assist sites with local recruitment activities, and carry out innovative approaches such as social media, digital initiatives, community outreach, and long-term patient engagement programs. This includes verifying feasibility results, patient insights, and other available data are employed when creating strategies for patient recruitment and retention. You will oversee the execution of these strategies including budget, timelines, key performance indicator tracking, and return on investment reporting.

Main job responsibilities:

  • Support trial teams as the subject matter expert to develop and implement study-specific recruitment and retention strategies.
  • Oversee study-specific, patient enrollment-related initiatives to ensure they are run efficiently, tracked appropriately, and monitor the results to identify strategic changes and implement these changes for continued impact.
  • Bring the patient voice and experience into the patient recruitment and retention strategy and related materials.
  • Support development and implementation of Diversity Plans to support teams with achieving enrollment of underrepresented patient population(s) that align with epidemiology of the target indication.
  • Provide continuity and connectivity between existing program/trial feasibility efforts and development of recruitment and retention plans by recruitment and retention vendor(s).
  • Lead recruitment and retention vendor selection for assigned projects.

Basic Requirements: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in a science-related field; advanced degree preferred
  • 8+ years of clinical research / project management experience including clinical site, CRO, and/or sponsor experience

Additional Skills/Preferences:

  • Experience managing vendor relationships, timelines, and budgets.
  • Strategic, creative thinking and mitigation planning for patient recruitment and retention materials, tactics, and efforts for global clinical trials
  • Ability to quickly shift and implement alternate strategies within a changing study, program, or company landscape
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with superior ability to prioritize and manage multiple competing tasks and demands while ensuring overall quality and integrity
  • Foster open, available, and transparent communication
  • Strong interpersonal skills necessary to develop, guide, and maintain internal and external collaborator relationships.
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills, including presentation skills, ability to effectively articulate highly technical or complex concepts to audiences with differing levels of experience
  • Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work individually, within a multi-disciplinary team, as well as with external partners and vendors

Actual compensation will depend on a candidate’s education, experience, skills, and geographic location.  The anticipated wage for this position is

$127,500 - $187,000

Full-time equivalent employees also will be eligible for a company bonus (depending, in part, on company and individual performance).
