The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager – BMS to join our Melbourne (Scoresby) team. You will lead the delivery of complex Building Management System and Integrated Building Systems projects across commercial and mission‑critical environments.

This is a hands‑on senior role where you will take full ownership of project delivery—from design and engineering through to commissioning and close‑out—while acting as the primary interface with customers, consultants, and contractors.

You’ll apply your technical expertise, commercial acumen, and leadership capability to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead end‑to‑end delivery of BMS / IBMS projects, including design, procurement, installation, testing, commissioning, and documentation

  • Ensure compliance with customer specifications, QA standards, and regulatory requirements

  • Manage project scope, schedules, resources, and budgets to achieve contractual and financial outcomes

  • Provide strong leadership to project teams to drive performance and accountability

  • Build and maintain effective relationships with clients, contractors, consultants, and internal stakeholders

  • Conduct and manage FATs, SATs, system commissioning, and building tuning

  • Maintain accurate financial forecasting, cost control, and reporting

  • Prepare and manage project QA documentation and standardised deliverables

  • Provide regular project updates and reporting to senior management

  • Ensure all works comply with OHS&E and safety‑first principles

  • Identify opportunities for process improvement, standardisation, and continuous improvement initiatives

  • Uphold Johnson Controls’ KPIs, ethical standards, and professional conduct at all times

What You Bring

  • Trade qualification in Electrical or HVAC, or an Engineering qualification with HVAC experience

  • Strong background in Building Automation Systems (BAS/BMS) design, architecture, and delivery

  • Proven experience managing BMS / IBMS projects, including third‑party protocol integrations

  • Solid understanding of controller design, alternative control strategies, and system optimisation

  • Strong experience with commercial HVAC systems (chillers, boilers, airside plant)

  • Knowledge of energy efficiency and building performance solutions

  • Sound understanding of IT, networking, and industrial communication protocols

  • Experience conducting FAT, SAT, commissioning, and technical handover

  • Competency in MS Word, Excel, Project, and Visio
    (BIM, AutoCAD, and system documentation tools advantageous)

  • Ability to standardise software, points lists, documentation, and support libraries

  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and report‑writing skills

  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities

  • Passion for safety, quality, and customer success

Experience:

  • Minimum 2+ years post‑qualification experience in HVAC and/or building controls

  • Extensive experience in commercial BMS project delivery
