What this job involves:

As a Lobby Host at Microsoft, you will be the face of innovation and hospitality, creating the first and lasting impression for every visitor who enters this cutting-edge technology workspace. Your role combines exceptional customer service with technology enthusiasm, ensuring that guests, partners, and employees experience the full impact of Microsoft's vision from the moment they arrive. You'll orchestrate seamless visitor experiences while showcasing Microsoft devices and technology in an interactive, engaging environment. This dynamic position requires energy, professionalism, and genuine passion for technology, as you'll serve as both ambassador and facilitator for one of the world's most influential technology companies. Working closely with Facility Management, Events, and Hospitality teams, you'll contribute directly to Microsoft's reputation for excellence and innovation, making each interaction memorable and each visit effortless.

What your day-to-day will look like:

• Deliver exceptional visitor experiences by greeting, registering, and badging all guests with warmth and professionalism, maintaining eye contact and following dress code guidelines while managing the visitor registration system and notifying Microsoft staff of arrivals with strict confidentiality

• Showcase Microsoft device technology and demonstrate products within the lobby area to customers and partners, leveraging your understanding of Microsoft technology to create engaging, interactive experiences that highlight innovation and capabilities

• Coordinate administrative operations including answering and directing phone calls through the main switchboard, managing incoming deliveries and courier pickups, arranging taxi services, providing wireless access codes, and responding to inquiries about directions, amenities, and building locations

• Manage customer-facing conference rooms by booking calendars, processing cancellation requests, performing daily sweeps to ensure spaces remain clean and functional, and coordinating with Hospitality and Cleaning providers to maintain professional presentation standards at all times

• Support event coordination by working with business units and the IFM events team to ensure requirements are met, providing concierge teams with daily briefings on schedules and special requirements, and organizing catering requests as needed

• Monitor and resolve technology issues by responding to AV equipment problems, replacing non-working devices, ensuring Microsoft display services and lobby technology function properly, and promptly escalating technical failures to Microsoft IT and Site FM teams for resolution

• Enforce security protocols by monitoring access to secured areas, contacting security immediately for breaches or problem situations, commencing emergency procedures consistent with location response plans, and entering service requests into the work order system while coordinating maintenance access for Tier Two IFM providers

Required Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent with demonstrated experience in customer service, front desk, reception, or hospitality roles where professional presentation and visitor interaction were primary responsibilities

• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills with proven ability to maintain a highly professional, polite, and energetic demeanor in person and on the telephone, creating positive impressions with diverse audiences including executives, clients, and partners

• Genuine interest and enthusiasm for technology with ability to learn and demonstrate Microsoft devices, products, and services to visitors, conveying passion for innovation even without deep technical expertise

• Strong organizational abilities and attention to detail, capable of managing multiple simultaneous tasks including visitor registration, phone calls, deliveries, meeting room bookings, and administrative requests without compromising accuracy or service quality

• Proficiency with computer systems and willingness to learn specialized software including visitor management platforms, work order systems, meeting room booking tools (GAL), and Microsoft productivity applications

• Professional appearance and demeanor with understanding of corporate protocols, confidentiality requirements, and ability to represent a premium brand consistently through dress, language, and behavior

• Flexibility to ensure coverage during all specified times including providing support during colleagues' lunch breaks, vacations, and illness, with reliable attendance and punctuality essential to maintaining continuous lobby presence

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous experience in technology company environments, innovation centers, experience centers, or modern corporate workplaces where technology demonstration or interactive customer experiences were part of the role

• Familiarity with Microsoft products and services (Windows, Surface devices, Microsoft 365, Teams) that can be quickly expanded through on-the-job training and product demonstrations

• Experience with facility management software, visitor management systems, or work order platforms that streamlines the learning curve for Microsoft-specific tools and processes

• Basic understanding of audiovisual equipment troubleshooting (projectors, display screens, video conferencing systems) or willingness to learn technical problem-solving for common lobby technology issues

• Multilingual capabilities or conversational proficiency in languages beyond English that enhances ability to assist international visitors and partners in their native language

• Event coordination or hospitality experience including catering management, meeting setup, or conference support that complements the administrative aspects of the lobby host role

• Proactive, hands-on attitude with demonstrated ability to anticipate needs, solve problems independently, and take initiative to enhance visitor experiences and operational efficiency without constant supervision
