We are expanding our GIA team in Costa Rica and are accepting applications for multiple roles including Data Analytics Specialist, Senior Auditor, Lead Auditor, and Audit Manager.

Roles Overview
 

Data Analytics Specialist

The Data Analytics Specialist is a key position within our Global Internal Audit team. In this role, you'll design and implement data-driven solutions for audit engagements, collaborate with audit teams to enhance analytical approaches, and contribute to the advancement of our data analytics capabilities.

This role requires strong self-direction and the ability to manage projects independently while collaborating effectively with audit teams and stakeholders.
 

Auditor Roles (Senior, Lead, and Manager Levels)

Auditor positions apply advanced auditing methodologies to engagement planning, execution, and reporting while continuously developing internal audit expertise and mentoring team members. These roles utilize data analytics strategies and AI-enabled tools to optimize audit efficiency and effectiveness across engagements. Responsibilities include leading risk-based operational, compliance, technology, and financial audits designed to enhance and protect organizational value.

Key Responsibilities
 

For Data Analytics Specialist:

  • Independently manage end-to-end analytics projects, from initial scoping through final delivery, with minimal oversight

  • Proactively identify and communicate project risks, opportunities, and timeline adjustments to stakeholders

  • Design data analytics approaches that align with engagement objectives and internal audit standards

  • Develop and validate hypotheses about relationships between inputs and outputs in audit data

  • Gather, clean, and analyze complex datasets from diverse sources across on-premises and cloud environments

  • Apply intermediate data analysis techniques to test controls and identify anomalies

  • Create compelling data visualizations and "data stories" to communicate insights to non-technical stakeholders

  • Support development of strategic data pipelines and agentic workflows in preparation for next-generation autonomous audit technologies

  • Support the development and maintenance of Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) models for domain-specific knowledge in audits
     

For Auditor Roles:

  • Lead risk-based operational, compliance, technology, and financial audits and/or projects designed to enhance and protect organizational value

  • Plan and execute audit procedures in conformance with GIA quality standards, policies, and procedures

  • Apply risk-based approaches to achieve audit test objectives

  • Manage multiple concurrent audit projects, coordinate team resources, and address issues or roadblocks proactively

  • Develop and execute complex queries and testing strategies, including advanced techniques, to confirm the completeness and accuracy of data used in analytics

  • Lead the delivery of customized analytics in support of internal audits and effectively communicate results and insights to stakeholders using non-technical terminology

  • Analyze the relationship between business strategies and risks and evaluate the effectiveness of associated control activities

  • Draft comprehensive audit findings and communicate effectively to management

  • Supervise and review the work of junior audit team members, providing guidance and coaching to enhance their professional development

Required Skills & Abilities
 

For Data Analytics Specialist:

  • Proven ability to work autonomously with exceptional attention to detail, taking full ownership of deliverables with minimal supervision

  • Demonstrated track record of proactive stakeholder management, including regular status updates, risk identification, and solution-oriented communication

  • Self-starter mentality with ability to identify opportunities for process improvement and analytical innovation with minimal direction

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities

  • Excellent communication skills, capable of handling sensitive data and delivering complex information effectively

  • Proficiency in SQL and Python for data manipulation, analysis, and visualization

  • Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Python libraries)

  • Familiarity with Jupyter notebooks for data analysis and visualization

  • Knowledge of statistical methods and their applications in audit testing
     

For Auditor Roles:

  • Leadership: Experience guiding teams and influencing stakeholders at all levels

  • Project Management - Demonstrated ability to lead audit engagements, managing teams, deadlines, and resource allocation effectively

  • Critical Thinking & Professional Skepticism: The ability to objectively evaluate information from multiple sources, challenge assumptions, identify logical inconsistencies, and distinguish correlation from causation.

  • Problem Solving & Intellectual Curiosity: A natural desire to understand the "why" behind data patterns and independently pursue deeper understanding of business processes, data, and emerging technologies.

  • Data Analytics & AI Proficiency – Practical experience applying new AI-enabled audit tools to enhance risk assessments and efficiency, using advanced analytical techniques

  • Effective Communication (Verbal & Written): The ability to independently prepare audit engagement communications and presentations and effectively articulate risk insights and recommendations to stakeholders, translating complex findings into digestible language for business stakeholders at all levels.

  • Change Management - Ability to introduce and champion new audit methodologies

  • Attention to Detail & Time Management: Meticulous execution of audit procedures and data analysis with consistent accuracy and thoroughness, while balancing multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.

  • Personal Courage - Ability to uphold GIA principles of professional independence and objectivity while building collaborative relationships with business partners

Education & Experience
 

For Data Analytics Specialist:
 

Required:

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in data science, business analytics, management information systems, or a related STEM field

  • 2-4 years of experience in data analytics with demonstrated ability to work independently and manage projects from conception to completion

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

  • Familiarity with audit processes and risk management concepts
     

Preferred:

  • Knowledge of machine learning techniques and their practical applications

  • Relevant certifications (e.g., CISA, CIA, CAP, CDMP, or vendor-specific certifications)
     

For Auditor Roles:
 

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related business field

  • Experience in operational or financial auditing (excluding SOX or similar compliance-only engagements), with emphasis on executing audit activities by leveraging data analytics solutions and using AI to improve processes:

    • Senior Auditor: 3-5 years

    • Lead Auditor: 6+ years

    • Audit Manager: 8+ years
       

  • Experience supervising and reviewing the work of others in a professional environment (Lead and Manager levels)

  • Strong understanding of internal audit methodologies, risk assessment techniques, and control frameworks, including the IIA's International Professional Practices Framework and COSO

  • Proficiency in relevant auditing software and tools (e.g., TeamMate, Optro)
     

Preferred:

  • Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related business field

  • Relevant professional certification (CIA or CISA) for Lead and Manager levels

  • CPA or CA certification

  • Understanding of commercial real estate operations
