Where we Work
Udemy is a global company headquartered in San Francisco, with additional U.S. offices in Denver and Austin, and international hubs in Australia, India, Ireland, Mexico, and Türkiye. This is an in-office position, requiring three days a week in the office (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday) and flexibility on Mondays and Fridays.
About this role
To support efforts to transform the teaching and learning experience into one that is measurable and skills-first, we are developing a set of core skills intelligence capabilities that leverage generative AI to produce deep understandings and representations of our content and learning activities at Udemy through a skills lens. As the intern supporting this initiative, you will be developing, evaluating, and iterating on algorithms to improve our ability to connect skills to learning activities and measure skill proficiency gains through those learning activities.
What you'll be doing:

Partnering with supervisor on researching, designing, and evaluating new AI / ML algorithms for mapping learning activities to skills

Building LLM data pipelines, prompt and context engineering, and determining optimal content representations for measuring skill proficiency through learning activities
Ideal candidate will have

Education in computer science, mathematics, statistics or other related analytical (i.e. STEM) disciplines.

Deep understanding of AI / ML algorithms (natural language processing a plus) and developing large language model applications (e.g. prompt and context engineering, retrieval, online and offline evaluation, etc.)

Strong proficiency in Python, an understanding of best coding practices, and experience developing robust modules

Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
