Primary Objective
Direct and coordinate manufacturing operations teams to ensure Safe, Efficient, Cost‑effective, and Timely Delivery of MTS/ITW industry leading products.
Major Areas of Accountability
Operational Leadership
- Plan and supervise daily activities within assigned areas, including task delegation, workflow oversight, and schedule adherence.
- Monitor performance against production schedules and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Develop and execute short‑term operational solutions aligned with departmental, divisional, and corporate goals.
- Continuous improvement - Drive continuous improvement by identifying/implementing process and quality improvements using structured methodologies.
- Cross‑Functional Collaboration - Serve as the primary representative for assigned area(s), collaborating with internal teams and external partners to meet operational goals and support broader MTS goals.
- Support CBI growth initiatives, 80 inlines.
- Promote and foster MTS/ITW Culture and Values.
Quality & Compliance
- Establish, Maintain, and Monitor processes that ensure product/service quality, operational efficiency, and compliance with ISO 9001 and corporate standards.
- Ensure all products and services meet engineering, project specific, product, and industry quality requirements.
Cost Control & Resource Management
- Manage costs associated with production, comparing actual performance to standard and planned project costs.
- Direct cost‑reduction initiatives related to products, systems, and projects.
- Maintain operations within budgetary guidelines, collaborating on budget development and driving continuous cost improvements across labor, expenses, assessments, and capital.
- Monitor demand and adjust staffing levels using internal resources, contract labor, or direct hiring.
People Development
- Ensure staff are trained, qualified for assigned work by creating and supporting training plans and maintaining training matrix.
- Oversee employee performance development, including evaluations, coaching, and improvement planning.
- Foster a productive, safe, and engaged work environment.
People, Processes, and Safety:
- Production Planning & Execution: Develop and manage production schedules to meet targets while optimizing resources and minimizing downtime.
- Team Leadership: Recruit, Hire, Onboard, Train, and Coach staff; conduct performance evaluations and manage disciplinary actions.
- Quality Control: Ensure output meets specifications and standards; apply Lean or Six Sigma tools where applicable.
- Safety Compliance: Enforce OSHA and company safety protocols to keep a safe, clean work environment.
- Equipment Maintenance: Coordinate with maintenance teams to ensure equipment reliability and minimize disruptions.
- Reporting & Analysis: Track KPIs, keep production records, and communicate performance to senior leadership
Minimum Qualifications
- Associate degree in a relevant discipline and 4 years of applicable experience, including at least 1 year in a manufacturing lead/supervisory role
OR - High school diploma/equivalent and 8 years of applicable experience, including at least 1 year in a manufacturing lead/supervisory role.
- Demonstrated ability to manage and support departmental assets effectively.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, operations, or technology management.
- 3–5 years of manufacturing experience with 2+ years in a leadership role.
- Proficiency with an ERP systems (SAP) and Microsoft Office.
- Certifications such as CPIM or Six Sigma Green/Black Belt.
