Job Description

Rare opportunity for an exceptional individual to join the Amazon Prime Video Sports International team, leading the live sports business in Japan, including: defining the strategy, negotiating rights deals, driving the in-life performance, and handling the external relationship with federations and clubs, for all of Prime Video's live sports properties in Japan.

You will join Amazon's industry-leading global sports team, which is transforming the delivery and experience of watching live sports via streaming, and you will play a key role in building and driving continued excellence in our sports offerings across Japan.

You will bring highly credible experience in live sports and media (typically from working in a sports broadcaster, agency or federation) and will able to apply this experience quickly in working with Amazon's existing local teams and partners, including federations, clubs and production partners. You will be a self-starter, able to work autonomously and think creatively in finding opportunities to develop the business, while also earning trust with all stakeholders. You will show high standards of professionalism, an attention to detail, and an obsession with the customer experience in order to continually improve our live sports proposition in Japan.

Key job responsibilities
1. Define the strategy and opportunities for building the sports proposition in Japan. Work with Finance and local teams to create business cases and gain alignment to them.
2. Engage in sports rights auctions or direct negotiation with federations in order to secure rights at optimal valuation.
3. Own the in-life performance of sports properties in the region, including: business case goals, course correction and post-event reviews (co-owned with local PV team); driving advertising revenues with Amazon Ads; developing ancillary revenues including commercial premises and social media.
4. Define programming, scheduling and match-picking to ensure maximization of rights.
5. Work with Amazon global production function to select, hire and manage local production partners, including talent selection.
6. Manage ongoing external relationships with relevant sports federations, agencies, clubs and major talent/ambassadors, and act as spokesperson for Prime Video Sports in Japan.

Basic Qualifications

- 7+ years of developing, negotiating and executing business agreements experience
- 7+ years of business development, partnership management, or sourcing new business experience
- Experience developing and executing on GTM strategies that are large in scope
- Speak, write, and read fluently in English
- Speak, write, and read fluently in Japanese

Preferred Qualifications

- 7+ years working in sports media industry, either within a broadcaster, agency or federation, including direct experience of rights deals, and an excellent network of relationships.
