Job Summary


We are seeking a skilled Manager Digital Project (Finance Transformation Manager – Tax) to join Continuous Improvement – -Global Finance Services Division

The preference for this role is to be based out of Bangalore Whitefield Office, KA -India

What you will do

As an integral part of the Continuous Improvement (CI) Center of Excellence, the Finance Transformation Manager – Tax will lead and support global tax transformation initiatives focused on optimization, digitalization, and supporting large efficiencies initiatives.

This role partners closely with Operations Tax, Finance, IT, and GBS stakeholders to modernize tax processes, enable regulatory compliance, improve data quality, and leverage digital solutions across direct and indirect tax domains. The position plays a key role in shaping roadmap-driven transformation aligned with Caterpillar’s global operating model.

Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Lead tax process transformation initiatives across direct and indirect tax areas (e.g., VAT/GST, sales & use tax, withholding tax, corporate income tax reporting).
  • Develop current and future state process maps, identify control gaps, automation opportunities, and define measurable improvement outcomes.
  • Partner with Tax Ops Leadership and Global Tax stakeholders to understand regulatory requirements, business priorities, and risk areas, translating them into actionable transformation roadmaps.
  • Drive digital tax enablement, including process automation, data readiness, ERP integration, tax engines, analytics, and reporting tools.
  • Ensure consistent application of CI methodologies, tools, and governance, enabling scalable and sustainable improvements.
  • Engage and coordinate cross functional subject matter experts (Tax, Accounting, IT, external advisors) to deliver complex, multi country initiatives.
  • Promote a culture of innovation, simplification, and continuous improvement within the tax and finance communities through best practice sharing and hands on leadership.

 What you will have 

  • 6–10 years of overall experience, including 2–3 years in management consulting, tax transformation, or finance transformation roles.
  • Strong knowledge of tax processes and operating models, including direct and/or indirect tax compliance, reporting, and controls.
  • Experience with process improvement, operating model redesign, or digital transformation within a global or shared services environment.
  • Project and program management skills, with the ability to manage complex, multi stakeholder initiatives.
  • Demonstrated people leadership or matrix leadership experience.
  • Strong diagnostic and analytical capabilities to identify improvement opportunities and design scalable solutions.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a global, matrixed environment and influence without direct authority.
  • Master’s degree (MSc / MBA) in Business, Finance, Accounting, Tax, or a related discipline.
  • Working knowledge of ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle)
  • This position requires candidate to work a 5-day -a -week schedule in the Hosur Facility

• Evaluates risks and vulnerabilities, and creates contingency plans.
• Advises others on preferred tools, techniques and methods for estimating program cost and time.
• Conducts regular and ad-hoc program reviews with project managers, team and clients.

IT Project Control and Reporting: Knowledge of project control and reporting; ability to monitor the vital signs of an IT project while managing its progress and delivery schedule.

• Justifies varying and appropriate levels of scrutiny for differently experienced team members.
• Advises on the selection of tools and techniques used for monitoring progress and presenting reports to stakeholders.
• Communicates with managerial, technical and business stakeholders on progress reporting.
• Controls multiple IT projects: monitoring progress, probing and repairing delays.
• Consolidates the progress of many IT projects into a single progress report.
• Consults on the principles of Earned Value Analysis across multiple IT projects.

IT Project Management: Knowledge of project management; ability to plan, organize, monitor and control IT projects using appropriate technical resources.
Level Extensive Experience:
• Controls quality standards and budgeting in an ongoing IT project.
• Estimates and appropriately addresses potential issues and risks in IT projects.
• Ensures that technical objectives and functional requirements align in all IT projects.
• Builds IT related templates for demand analysis and functional reports.
• Monitors every step in an IT project to ensure all aspects of the project are delivered on-time.
• Directs team members in analyzing client requirements in an appropriate manner.

IT Standards, Procedures & Policies: Knowledge of Information Technology (IT) standards and policies; ability to utilize a variety of administrative skill sets and technical knowledge to manage organizational IT policies, standards, and procedures.
Level Extensive Experience:
• Evaluates the effectiveness of IT policies through professional group discussions.
• Designs organizational IT policies, standards and procedures.
• Develops templates for designing IT standards and procedures for technical business plans.
• Monitors the implementation of IT standards and procedures in IT projects or services.
• Manages the process for IT standards and procedures delivery and implementation ensuring the organization is under effective management.
• Revises IT policies, standards and procedures based on each department's feedback.
