Our System-of-Systems (SoS) Architecture (SoSA) team serves highly visible programs and RTX projects, performing highly technical assignments, directly contributing to protecting our nation and our war fighters.  Specifically, we are looking for a Section Lead who is an experienced system-of-systems architect with experience in successful, customer-focused onsite integration while synthesizing information from multiple stakeholders, including the warfighter, system owners, system designers, and system builders. 

The ideal applicant would be a Raytheon CAP-certified or CAP-trained architect who has developed engineering solutions at many points of the product lifecycle, and who would have notable breadth and depth of domain knowledge derived from significant experience in one or more areas of national defense.  The ability and interest in representing system-of-system and enterprise architectures in frameworks such as UAF, DoDAF, TOGAF, Zachman, etc., using Cameo and other tools to generate appropriate SysML and other artifacts, and then following through with implementation teams to develop understanding, deconflict interfaces, integrate solutions, and ensure mission success, is essential.

What You Will Do

  • Lead a team of Certified Architects and Architect apprentices to realize SoS Architecture team objectives

    • Become the “go-to” source for SoS Architecture expertise

    • Architect winning SoS solutions across complex technology domains

    • Develop architecture methods and tools for SoS

    • Grow an Architect pipeline specializing in SoS

    • You will participate in talent acquisition, goal setting, performance development, and appraisal for your team

    • You will ensure each direct report has suitable work assignments and opportunities for growth and career advancement

    • You will provide guidance, direction, mentoring, and influencing skills while fostering teamwork, interdependent execution, and growth for approximately 10 – 15 Engineers

  • Collaborate with the Capture Team, Technology Directors, and Mission Area, Engineering, and Business Development leaders to improve proposal outcomes.

  • Collaborate with the Operations and Mission Analysis – West Department Lead, the Integrated Solutions Modeling & Architecture (ISMA) Director, and the extended leadership teams of the department and directorate, to employ SoSA team capabilities into the ISMA operating model.

  • Collaborate with subordinates, other employees, customers, and senior managers throughout the company’s organizations.

  • Travel as required – anticipated 10% to various sites.

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 10 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.

  • Experience in one or more of the following technical domains:

    • Systems engineering and/or design

    • System performance and/or Mission Planning analysis

    • System integration and field engineering

    • Software architecture, design, development, integration, and verification

    • Professional experience includes at least three (3+) years of documented technical work experience in at least one Raytheon mission domain such as: Land Warfare, Integrated Air and Missile Defense, Naval Power, Air Power, Space, ISR, Strategic Missile Defense and Advanced Technology.

    • Professional experience includes demonstrated work experience with Raytheon Enterprise Architecture Process (or equivalent), Department of Defense Architecture Framework (DoDAF) or Unified Architecture Framework (UAF), SysML, and Architecture Planning.

  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued secret security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Raytheon Certified Architect (preferred) or Raytheon Trained Architect

  • Advanced Degree in STEM (and can be considered as additional experience)

  • Previous management experience in the following:

    • Developing and mentoring others, both technically and professionally.

    • Communicating with different levels of employees, departments, and/or customers

    • A leadership role within a RMD department and/or function

    • Team building

    • Interviewing and hiring new employees

  • Experience and knowledge of the RTX Lifecycle Program Management (RLPM), Proposals, and Basis of Estimates (BOEs).

  • Experience in Military CONOPs.

  • Expertise in developing SysML-based and/or UAF-based system architecture models in an MBSE tool such as Cameo.

  • Existing Active TS/SCI security clearance, or past qualification for this clearance.

  • Exceptional communication skills – both verbal and written

  • Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products.

The salary range for this role is 132,400 USD - 251,600 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.
