JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Opportunity

This position works out of our Abbott Park, IL location. The Sr. Economic Analyst will be an integral member of a global corporate economics department, working in a team-based environment to support and promote the economics function at Abbott. The Sr. Economic Analyst will apply a working knowledge of economic and financial market principles to understand the external environment and support ongoing business needs.  

What You’ll Work On

In this role you will work on a variety of projects that support Abbott’s global businesses, focusing on industry and market analysis. Specific tasks may include:

  • Applying statistical and financial analysis of public and private data, to provide timely insights of underlying trends and patterns for key markets
  • Constructing and maintaining various economic indexes, dashboards, and other data visualization & reporting tools
  • Monitoring and tracking changes in global financial markets and how they relate to economic, healthcare, geopolitical, and industry risks
  • Contributing research, econometric and time series analysis, and data visualization to department reports and communications

Required Qualifications

  • A degree in Economics, Finance, or related quantitative field
  • Demonstrated experience working with data from multiple sources, building and validating datasets, and conducting econometric or financial analysis
  • 5+ years of prior work experience in an economic or financial analyst role

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong Excel skills, experience with econometric/statistics software, and a willingness to learn other software tools as needed
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate financial concepts and themes to a general business audience
  • The ability to work on both independent and group projects, and to interact with internal colleagues across functions and levels, while contributing to the overall growth of the team
  • A strong interest in economic and financial issues along with the curiosity and desire to develop their personal skill set

The base pay for this position is

$78,000.00 – $156,000.00
