A Day in the Life

As a Strategic Founding Partner of IRCAD North America, Medtronic is proud to offer a unique opportunity at the forefront of surgical innovation and education. We are seeking a Principal Professional Affairs and Clinical Education (PACE) Specialist to lead and execute Medtronic’s onsite education and collaboration strategy at IRCAD North America. This role is central to advancing Robotics Assisted Surgery (RAS) education, procedural training, and clinician engagement across multiple specialties.

Reporting to the Senior PACE Manager, the Principal PACE Specialist serves as Medtronic’s onsite representative in Charlotte, NC, working closely with Medtronic Medical Education teams, IRCAD surgical technicians, educational staff, and world-class faculty to deliver best-in-class, procedure-based training experiences. This position offers a rare opportunity to support Medtronic’s long-standing global partnership with IRCAD while helping shape the future of robotic and procedural education in the U.S.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as Medtronic’s onsite liaison at IRCAD North America, coordinating closely with Medical Education teams, IRCAD surgical staff, program support teams, and visiting clinicians
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute hands-on, didactic, and simulation-based training programs across multiple specialties, including cardiovascular, neuro, orthopedic, general surgery, and robotics
  • Support the launch and expansion of Robotics Assisted Surgery (RAS) education programs, including surgeon and support staff training
  • Provide technical expertise and white-glove support during live programs, including robotics platform readiness, troubleshooting, and real-time issue resolution
  • Oversee lab configuration, workflow optimization, equipment setup, inventory management, shipment coordination, and technology integration
  • Deliver concierge-level experiences for visiting surgeons, faculty, executives, and customers to ensure a seamless and impactful training environment
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to drive executional excellence, continuous improvement, and experience optimization
  • Partner with IRCAD leadership to identify opportunities to enhance facility utilization, operational processes, and educational impact
  • Plan and support special events, symposia, advisory boards, and partnership engagements
  • Track program utilization, metrics, course outcomes, and customer engagement data to support ROI analysis and strategic alignment
  • Maintain an active onsite presence, including flexibility for evening, weekend, or short-notice program support as needed

Requirements (Must Have)

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in clinical education, procedural adoption, surgical services, laboratory operations, or robotic-assisted surgery environments
  • Ability to operate independently in a fast-paced, dynamic clinical education environment
  • Strong operational discipline, adaptability, and proactive problem-solving skills
  • Full-time, onsite position based in Charlotte, NC at IRCAD North America. Some evening and weekend availability required to support training programs and events.

Nice to Have

  • Advanced degree (MBA, MHA, MS, or similar)
  • Experience working in operating rooms and familiarity with surgical procedures
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, including the ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical audiences
  • Knowledge of Medtronic technologies and therapeutic areas such as cardiovascular, spine, robotics, general surgery, or neurosurgery


 

For Baccalaureate degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree that satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A) is required.

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$104,800.00 - $157,200.00

 

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).

The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).

The following benefits and additional compensation are available to those regular employees who work 20+ hours per week: Health, Dental and vision insurance, Health Savings Account, Healthcare Flexible Spending Account, Life insurance, Long-term disability leave, Dependent daycare spending account, Tuition assistance/reimbursement, and Simple Steps (global well-being program).

 

The following benefits and additional compensation are available to all regular employees: Incentive plans, 401(k) plan plus employer contribution and match, Short-term disability, Paid time off, Paid holidays, Employee Stock Purchase Plan, Employee Assistance Program, Non-qualified Retirement Plan Supplement (subject to IRS earning minimums), and Capital Accumulation Plan (available to Vice Presidents and above, or subject to IRS earning minimums).

 

Regular employees are those who are not temporary, such as interns.  Temporary employees are eligible for paid sick time, as required under applicable state law, and the Employee Stock Purchase Plan. Please note some of the above benefits may not apply to workers in Puerto Rico.
