Lead Data Scientist

About the role

We're excited to create a new opportunity within wiqConsumer to strengthen our growing team as we expand our capabilities and client offerings globally. This Lead Data Scientist role is responsible for leading and managing a team of 6-10 data scientists to deliver high quality data science and analytics solutions to Consumer Trade Partners including PepsiCo, Arnott's, Unilever, Bega, and more across multiple geographies.

As a commercially savvy Lead Data Scientist, you will lead your team on client briefs whilst collaborating closely with consultants and Trade Partner stakeholders. You'll bring fresh ideas and innovative thinking to push the boundaries of what's possible with consumer analytics. You will drive AI excellence and innovation whilst maintaining relentless focus on delivery excellence.

Based in India, Quantium India provides vital support to the global Consumer business. The teams in India work alongside global teams to deliver high quality analytics solutions to Trade Partners across multiple geographies.

• Drive AI excellence and innovation: Advance AI integration across your team's analytical projects, spearhead development of cutting-edge analytical methodologies, and scale AI impact through strategic application of tools and technologies
• Build and lead high-performing teams: Lead a team of 6-10 data scientists with full accountability for performance management, capability development and career growth
• Deliver high-quality analytical solutions: Lead team on client briefs, transforming Trade Partner questions into analytical solutions through effective scoping and solution design
• Drive market performance: Hold primary accountability for assigned market(s) performance including project delivery, stakeholder relationships and delivery standards
• Establish quality and delivery standards: Develop and enforce quality assurance frameworks, documentation standards and analytical methodologies across the team

The superpowers you'll be bringing to the team:

• Analytics expertise: 7+ years' experience in a highly technical analytics environment with proven analytics and insights expertise at Lead Analyst level or equivalent
• Technical proficiency: Strong expertise in BigQuery SQL and data visualisation tools
• Leadership experience: Proven experience leading teams of analysts and managing analytical deliverables
• People management: Experience and genuine interest in people management, mentoring and team development
• Stakeholder management: Demonstrated success managing stakeholders (internal and external) and delivering against projects in dynamic, deadline-driven environments
• Solution design: Experience transforming client/stakeholder questions into analytical solutions through project scoping and solution design
• Academic background: Tertiary qualifications in engineering, mathematics, actuarial studies, statistics, physics or a related analytical discipline
• Communication skills: Strong communication skills, both written (story-telling, slide decks) and verbal

Value-add experience:

• Hands-on experience with modern AI tools (Claude, ChatGPT, and other emerging platforms) and understanding of business applications
• Python and R expertise with hands-on implementation in business environments
• Experience with FMCG/CPG or Retail industry and understanding of Trade Partner/consumer brand challenges
