Our Engineering team are looking for the right teammate to support the Malaysia manufacturing site in Batu Kawan, Penang. As a Senior Industrial Engineer, you will lead initiatives to increase throughput, reduce operational cost, and improve performance in key constraint areas. You will also take the lead in layout design, planning and automation initiatives aimed at enhancing productivity and operational efficiency. You will be empowered to drive production stabilization efforts across the organization by applying your industrial engineering expertise, lean methodologies and structured problem-solving tools.
Where you come in:
You will develop optimal material flow from incoming, through warehouse, kitting, assembly, and onto packaging by applying Lean tools, and continually monitor processes to ensure the best possible manufacturing efficiency.
You will develop, implement, and evaluate business and engineering solutions to modify or improve existing production and processing methods, including minimizing cycle time, eliminating redundant activities, assessing appropriate task placement, and evaluating storage and throughput capacity.
You will lead initiatives to increase throughput, reduce cost, and improve performance in constraint areas.
You will develop, maintain, and validate manufacturing metrics such as equipment cycle time and run rate per standard, and drive productivity improvements for better cost and manufacturing efficiency.
You will perform manning ratio analysis and compute optimal headcount requirements to improve manufacturing cost and efficiency.
You will develop, evaluate, and maintain equipment capacity planning, support short-term capacity planning, and lead mid- to long-term capacity planning activities through capacity modelling and simulation to maximize utilization.
You will implement data-driven continuous improvement projects for CapEx avoidance and capital efficiency, and coordinate capital expenditure requests, approval processes, and delivery status tracking.
You will provide solutions for site space requirements and utilization through space modelling analysis and perform various layout planning scenarios to support short-, mid-, and long-term business demand.
You will design layouts for equipment, materials, and workspace to achieve maximum operational efficiency.
You will lead production line layout, equipment and product storage planning, and coordinate tool installation activities to support production in collaboration with site facilities and area engineers.
What makes you successful:
You are typically required to hold a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering or a related technical discipline, with a minimum of 5–8 years of relevant working experience in a manufacturing environment.
You are able to identify areas for improvement to optimize cycle time, machine capacity, and manpower utilization.
You are able to do plant layout design and space planning using drafting tools such as AutoCAD, considering optimal material flow and its impact on the overall plant layout.
You are able to manage self-directed projects, maintain timelines, stay organized, and balance multiple activities in a fast-paced environment.
You are comfortable dealing with ambiguity and uncertainty, with a willingness to try new and challenging tasks, and you have proven ability to work hands-on in a fast-paced environment.
You are an excellent communicator (both written and verbal), with strong interpersonal and analytical skills.
You are a team player with a positive attitude and growth-oriented mindset.
