Job Description:
The Product Consultant supports the strategy, design, implementation, and performance optimization of Southwest Airlines’ air products, including branded fare products. This role is responsible for identifying and deploying new air product optimizations and capabilities to enhance Southwest’s product portfolio, conducting market research, analyzing product performance, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive revenue growth and enhance the Customer experience. The Consultant will provide data-driven insights and recommendations to support the development and execution of product strategies, ensuring alignment with Southwest’s overall business objectives.

Responsibilities
Lead the development and refinement of the long-term strategy, goals, and roadmap for the air product portfolio
Identify emerging trends, competitive threats, and new opportunities; translate insights into actionable strategic recommendations
Guide cross-functional teams through product lifecycle activities including concepting, prioritization, development, go‑to‑market, and optimization
Shape the merchandising strategy, pricing approach, and financial performance modeling for key product lines
Facilitate alignment between Product Strategy and key stakeholders such as Digital, Analytics, Revenue Management, Marketing, Finance, Technology, and Customer Experience
Influence without authority, driving consensus on strategic priorities and tradeoffs
Guide sophisticated analytical modeling to understand product performance, diagnose issues, and uncover opportunities
Propose innovative tools, dashboards, and reports to proactively monitor and identify performance opportunities
Own key performance indicators (KPIs) for the air product portfolio and proactively recommend actions balancing financial, customer, and operational data to improve results
Structure and execute against ad hoc performance questions to diagnose performance trends
May perform other job duties as directed by the Employee’s Leader
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Advanced understanding of product strategy, product lifecycle management, and customer value creation
Advanced knowledge of analytical methods, financial modeling, and product performance management frameworks
Advanced understanding of airline or travel industry dynamics and customer behavior drivers
Skilled in executive communication and presentation skills, with the ability to simplify complex topics with actionable data-driven recommendations
Skilled in leading cross-functional decision-making and influencing Senior Leadership
Skilled in managing progress of projects
Skilled in data analytics and visualization
Skilled in SQL, Tableau, Alteryx, Excel, PowerPoint and business intelligence tools
Ability to translate analysis into strategy, crafting clear, persuasive stories that drive action
Ability to independently structure ambiguous problems, using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems
Ability to challenge assumptions, recommend alternatives, and drive alignment across diverse teams
Education
Required: High School Diploma or GED
Experience
Advanced level experience, seasoned and specialized knowledge in:
Strategy development and execution
Product innovation, development and evolution
Financial performance and business case concepts
Presenting and communicating analysis
Data analytics and visualization
SQL, Tableau, Alteryx, Excel, PowerPoint and business intelligence tools
Licensing/Certification

Physical Abilities
Ability to perform work duties from [limited space workstation/desk/office area] for extended periods of time
Ability to communicate and interact with others in the English language to meet the demands of the job
Ability to use a computer and other office productivity tools with sufficient speed and accuracy to meet the demands of the job

Must maintain a well-groomed appearance per Company appearance standards as described in established guidelines
Must be a U.S. citizen or have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986
Must be at least 18 years of age

Pay & Benefits:
Competitive market salary from $108,700 per year to $120,800 per year* depending on qualifications and experience. For eligible Leadership and individual contributor roles, additional bonus opportunities are available and awarded at the discretion of the company.
