Job Description

Software Project Manager, Cost Account Management (CAM) (Experienced or Senior)

Company:

The Boeing Company

The Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) Software Engineering organization is seeking several Software Project Managers, Cost Account Management (CAM) in St. Charles, MO to lead Operational Flight Program (OFP) software teams supporting Cruise Missile Systems (CMS) and Direct Attack (DA) weapons. The role balances technical leadership with program-level accountability—coordinating cross-functional teams, managing the software development lifecycle, and ensuring fielded software meets rigorous performance, safety, and schedule requirements.

We are currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels including Experienced and Senior Level Software Project Managers (Cost Account Management).

The person in this role will lead and coordinate technical execution for Operational Flight Program (OFP) software teams and related integration activities while owning Cost Account Management (CAM) for assigned software work. They will establish and defend the Performance Measurement Baseline, manage budgets, collect and validate timely cost and schedule data, and produce monthly Earned Value Management (EVM) metrics and forecasts (CPI, SPI, ETC, EAC). The role requires diagnosing root causes of variances, driving corrective action and re-planning, and communicating clear, objective status and recovery plans to program leadership and stakeholders. This position works closely with systems engineering, test, QA, and supply chain to ensure software releases are integrated, verified, and fielded on schedule, within scope, and on budget. The role also includes mentoring early-career engineers and promoting a culture of continuous improvement, safety, and technical rigor.

The ideal candidate has demonstrated success managing software programs or major software workstreams in aerospace, defense, or other highreliability domains and a strong working knowledge of the software development lifecycle, configuration management, and integration/test practices for embedded or flight software. They are experienced leading EVM and CAM processes and producing defensible program forecasts. They communicate effectively to technical teams and senior leadership, have a collaborative mindset, and a proven track record of resolving complex technical, schedule, and cost issues across engineering, manufacturing, and business functions.

For decades, the Precision Engagement Systems organization has designed and produced precision-guided weapon systems that defend our nation and support more than 30 allied countries. Our work is challenging, meaningful, and rapidly evolving; we are growing and looking for experienced software project leaders who can translate technical vision into dependable program execution.
