Job Purpose:

BTIG is seeking an experienced and passionate Senior Database Administrator to design, deliver, and maintain a robust, high-performance database infrastructure. In this role, you will be responsible for the administration, optimization, and security of PostgreSQL, SQL Server, MongoDB, Redis, ClickHouse, and KDB+ databases supporting critical internal applications and trading systems.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Database Administration & Optimization

  • Manage and maintain  SQL Server and Postgres environments, including backups and restores using Rubrik, space management, capacity planning, and archiving.
  • Proactively optimize database performance, including analyzing query execution plans, tuning SQL queries, and optimizing indexes.
  • Manage database schema migrations using golang-migrate and CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins).
  • Use RedgatepgAdmin, for database DevOps, administration, and cross-platform management.
  • Execute seamless database upgrades and migrations across all supported versions.
  • Evaluate and deploy CloudNativePG for Kubernetes-native PostgreSQL deployments on Kubernetes.

Monitoring & Observability

  • Build and maintain database monitoring dashboards and alerts using Prometheus and Grafana.
  • Integrate database health metrics with existing LogicMonitor infrastructure monitoring.
  • Set up proactive measures to maintain database health, performance, and availability across all environments.

Security & Governance

  • Implement and enforce standard security parameters, including rigorous access controls and restrictions on individual logins, to protect company data and ensure compliance with financial regulatory requirements.
  • Manage database credentials and secrets rotation through HashiCorp Vault and LastPass.
  • Ensure database backup policies meet regulatory retention and disaster recovery requirements using Rubrik.

Collaboration & Automation

  • Partner closely with application developers to configure connectors and optimize database interactions across Linux and Windows environments.
  • Administer and optimize ActiveBatch workload automation, including maintaining its SQL Server backend and scheduling database maintenance jobs.
  • Build and manage data orchestration workflows in Apache Airflow for database ETL, maintenance, and pipeline scheduling.
  • Support Redpanda (Kafka-compatible) streaming data pipelines that connect to database systems.
  • Leverage a DevOps mindset to script, automate, and create self-service tools for routine DBA tasks using CI/CD platforms (JenkinsGitHub).

Requirements & Qualifications:

Technical Expertise

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in database administration and architecture in a clustered environment.
  • Deep, hands-on expertise with SQL Server (all versions) and PostgreSQL, with experience running PostgreSQL on Kubernetes (e.g., CloudNativePG).
  • Strong practical experience with MongoDBRedis, and ClickHouse. Familiarity with KDB+ a plus.
