About the Role:

The Category Manager - Mechanical is responsible for developing, executing, and managing Data Center equipment initiatives for a variety of direct and indirect mechanical products to support power generation. This role will have a direct and immediate impact on our ability to build and scale our data center operations.

What You’ll Be Working On:

  • Sourcing Strategy: Develop and own the sourcing strategy for power generation mechanical equipment, including natural gas turbines, generators, BESS systems, fuel handling infrastructure, and other ancillary mechanical components.

  • Agreement Negotiation: Negotiate and manage complex supply agreements for critical power assets such as gas turbines, generator sets, exhaust systems, fuel skids, and mechanical support equipment across multiple concurrent site deployments.

  • Financial Management: Manage equipment procurement schedules, budgets, and costs to support large-scale power plant construction and commissioning activities tied to new data center builds.

  • Cross-Functional Partnership: Partner with the Power Engineering and Construction teams to translate power system designs into executable procurement strategies.

  • RFP Leadership: Lead RFP processes and supplier selections for power generation equipment, evaluating vendors on cost, lead time, technical capability, and long-term serviceability.

  • Strategic Guidance: Provide sourcing guidance with a deep understanding of Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) for power generation assets, factoring in installation, maintenance, fuel efficiency, and end-of-life considerations.

  • Supplier Development: Drive supplier development and integration for both OEMs and aftermarket providers in the power generation space.

  • Compliance & Performance: Monitor and enforce supplier compliance against agreements related to delivery schedules, technical specifications, and warranty terms.

  • Analytics: Conduct spend analysis across the power generation category and develop metrics and reporting tools to track savings, risk, and supplier performance.

What You’ll Bring to the Team:

  • Experience: 5+ years of experience in strategic sourcing or contract management, ideally within a fast-paced technology or infrastructure environment.

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Law, or a related field.

  • Budget Management: Experience managing high-value Capex budgets ($100M+) and understanding the financial impact of commercial terms.
