About the Role:

We are looking for an experienced Software Engineering Manager — a strategic, hands-on leader who will own the foundational systems that power our products. You'll lead a highly skilled team of backend, infrastructure, and full-stack engineers focused on building scalable services, improving developer velocity, and enabling teams to deliver great customer experiences. The role is based in Austin,TX and requires you to work in our Austin office (currently close to UT Austin) 3 days per week.

This role is both people and technology-focused: you’ll coach and grow engineers, while also guiding complex technical initiatives around micro-services architecture, distributed systems, infrastructure, and automation.

What You'll Do:

Team Leadership & People Management

  • Lead, grow, and coach a highly competent engineering team

Technical Ownership

  • Own the quality, architecture, and pace of delivery for the team
  • Lead the design and development of scalable microservices and platform systems using technologies such as AWS, Node.js, and React
  • Drive adoption of modern infrastructure: CI/CD, containerization, observability, and cloud services
  • Lead architectural and code reviews across the platform organization
  • Translate business and R&D initiatives into actionable technical requirements, choosing appropriate technologies and driving implementation
  • Build systems that scale: distributed, real-time data pipelines for low-latency decisioning
  • Focus on automation & tooling to reduce toil and improve engineering efficiency

Cross-Team Collaboration

  • Collaborate with product managers, architects, and stakeholders across teams to align priorities
    Maximize the team’s impact by ensuring clarity, focus, and execution
  • Advocate for platform capabilities that unlock product and engineering velocity
