Job Description

The Risk Management & Underwriting Advisor – Stop Loss drives profitable growth by developing and executing stop loss pricing and underwriting strategies across assigned markets. This role partners closely with Sales and Medical Underwriting to manage risk, influence market strategy, and position Cigna as a stop loss carrier of choice for brokers and clients.

This is a consultative, externally facing underwriting role with accountability for stop loss financial performance.

What You’ll Do

  • Develop and execute stop loss pricing and risk strategies aligned to financial goals
  • Assess benefit design, product structure, and large‑claim risk at the case and market level
  • Partner with Sales and Medical Underwriting to support new and renewal business
  • Monitor rate execution and financial results against targets
  • Influence market strategy, competition, products, and pricing
  • Engage brokers and clients in CE and consultative discussions to recommend differentiated stop loss solutions

What You Bring

  • 4+ years of stop loss underwriting or related risk experience
  • Strong analytical and risk assessment skills
  • Proven ability to build trusted, value‑add partnerships with Sales, underwriting, brokers, and clients
  • Strategic mindset with comfort influencing decisions and outcomes
  • Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, collaborative environment


If you will be working at home occasionally or permanently, the internet connection must be obtained through a cable broadband or fiber optic internet service provider with speeds of at least 10Mbps download/5Mbps upload.

For this position, we anticipate offering an annual salary of 88,700 - 147,800 USD / yearly, depending on relevant factors, including experience and geographic location.

This role is also anticipated to be eligible to participate in an annual bonus plan.
