Amazon/MGM Studios is responsible for producing and acquiring compelling, exclusive original content for our global base of Amazon Prime Video customers. As the home of original shows and movies like the satirical superhero takedown The Boys, the TV adaptation of The Lord of the Rings, and The Accountant we are just getting started. We are seeking to fill an open role within the Residuals department. This is an exciting opportunity to join the Culver City-based team at a high growth stage and have broad responsibilities including contributing to the end-to-end residual process, working with the production and legal teams to gather required documents, and contributing to special projects.
This role requires a self-starter with knowledge of the five domestic unions’ collective bargaining agreements (CBA) along with the Canadian, and other foreign unions CBA’s. This role will interact with the business teams as well as physical productions, so it requires someone good communication skills (oral and written), ability to understand the importance of details, nuances of residuals, and analytical skills. This role will support the Residual’s Manager and interacts the Production, Legal, Distribution, and Accounting teams at the Studio.
The candidate must thrive in a fast-paced, global, results-oriented environment, and possess the ability to work across several projects simultaneously. This role has regular interaction with multiple teams across Amazon/MGM Studios and Prime Video. The candidate must also think and act both strategically and tactically.
Key job responsibilities
• Support the Residuals team by tracking and reviewing production deliverables and establishing the appropriate affiliation by project
• Support the distribution team by assisting with residual estimate calculations for SVOD, Theatrical, and Pay TV productions in worldwide active cycle
• Update department trackers (run schedules) to align with the current production status of projects
• Validate residual payments against greenlight and ultimate models
• Create quarterly accrual planning summary
• Work with the functional leaders and other finance partners to build scalable financial processes and business metrics
• Test new system requirements and work with the tech team to remedy issues as they arise
- 5+ years of finance or a related analytical field experience
- 5+ years of identifying and implementing opportunities to resolve finance issues, improve, scale, or simplify finance tools, technology, and processes across teams and organizations experience
- Experience dealing with major unions, guilds, contractual terms and deal structures in the entertainment industry
- Knowledge of Excel at an intermediate level (e.g., pivot tables & charts, multiple criteria lookups, nested logical/IF formulas, data cleansing, array formulas, etc.)
- Knowledge of compensation compliance with state and federal laws
- Experience in identifying incomplete or inaccurate data, identifying the root cause and creating/implementing an escalation plan
- Experience communicating results to senior leadership
- Experience that includes strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and effective communication abilities

Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree- 5+ years of finance or a related analytical field experience
- 5+ years of identifying and implementing opportunities to resolve finance issues, improve, scale, or simplify finance tools, technology, and processes across teams and organizations experience
- Experience dealing with major unions, guilds, contractual terms and deal structures in the entertainment industry
- Knowledge of Excel at an intermediate level (e.g., pivot tables & charts, multiple criteria lookups, nested logical/IF formulas, data cleansing, array formulas, etc.)
- Knowledge of compensation compliance with state and federal laws

- 5+ years of participating in continuous improvement projects in your team to scale and improve controllership with measurable results experience- Experience in identifying incomplete or inaccurate data, identifying the root cause and creating/implementing an escalation plan
