Job Description
Amazon's dynamic Tax Department is seeking a Tax Manager to join our Foreign Direct Tax Reporting & Compliance Team in Japan. As part of our fast-paced, innovative team, you'll play a crucial role in managing worldwide tax reporting across Japan and the APAC region while working with diverse stakeholders globally.
What You'll Do:
- Lead end-to-end direct tax compliance and reporting for Japan and other APAC countries
- Manage statutory financial statement reporting under local GAAP and US GAAP worldwide tax provision
- Guide teams through tax authorities audits and controversy matters
- Partner with cross-functional teams to identify and manage strategic tax planning initiatives
- Research and document tax positions
- Spearhead process automation and digital transformation projects
- Shape global standard procedures for tax compliance and reporting

- Experience in taxation in a corporate environment, public accounting firm or major law firm
- Business level or above in both Japanese and English language
- Experience working effectively across cross-functional teams and partner well with people at all levels within an organization
- Experience with accounting concepts and tax regulations, laws and standards
- Experience with tax modeling in Excel-based models or other similar programs
- Certified Tax Accountant (Zeirishi)

Basic Qualifications
- 5+ years of tax, finance or a related analytical field experience- Experience in taxation in a corporate environment, public accounting firm or major law firm
- Business level or above in both Japanese and English language
- Experience working effectively across cross-functional teams and partner well with people at all levels within an organization
- Experience with accounting concepts and tax regulations, laws and standards
- Experience with tax modeling in Excel-based models or other similar programs
Preferred Qualifications
- CPA, or J.D.- Certified Tax Accountant (Zeirishi)
