Team Overview:

Klaviyo operates a real-time data analytics platform coded primarily in Python that is built for massive scale and hosted on Amazon Web Services (AWS). The Data Governance team builds and operates systems that help the rest of the company understand the data we are processing and storing. It also helps to ensure that we are compliant with relevant data regulations. As a founding member on the Data Governance team, you will have ownership over defining the technical and organizational vision for our data governance systems.

How You'll Make a Difference

  • You will be responsible for building and managing a team of 5-6 engineers to fulfill your data governance and management vision and roadmap.
  • Responsible for coaching engineers, managing/reviewing technical documentation and articulating a phased approach to achieving the team's overall technical vision.
  • Be responsible for the mission, technical direction and operations of projects that have immediate impact.
  • Wholly owning the systems that make our data discoverable, actionable, and compliant to power features that 180,000+ customers rely on daily to reach 4B+ consumers to drive their business forward.
  • Partnering with teams across the company to help them manage and leverage petabytes of data.
  • Transform workflows by putting AI at the center, building smarter systems and ways of working from the ground up.

Who You Are

  • BA or BS Degree in Computer Science, related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 8+ years of software engineering in a DevOps environment with specific experience in data processing systems.
  • 3+ years of people management experience.
  • Experience writing code using best practices in a language such as Python, Ruby, Go, etc.
  • Experience designing, building, and operating reliable, fault-tolerant, and high performance distributed systems.
  • Experience working with GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA, or similar regulatory frameworks.
  • Proven ability to come up to speed quickly.
  • You’ve already experimented with AI in work or personal projects, and you’re excited to dive in and learn fast. You’re hungry to responsibly explore new AI tools and workflows, finding ways to make your work smarter and more efficient.
  • Hybrid work out of our Boston Office 3x/week.
