Role Summary:
In our dynamic environment , the Finance team plays a critical role in supporting CARIAD Inc. as it establishes itself as a key member of the global CARIAD organization. As a strategic partner to the business, the team enables efficient and compliant operations within a fast-paced software development environment. The Sr Corporate Finance Lead will be responsible for driving alignment with CARIAD Inc.’s Corporate Controlling, Accounting, and Reporting activities (including planning, budgeting, and forecasting). This role requires the ability to operate effectively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, balancing multiple priorities while ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely delivery of financial information. It also includes all necessary alignment with key stakeholders and service providers, such as the Accounting Shared Services Center in Canada, the Board of Management (BoM) for CARIAD Inc., CARIAD Estonia, CARIAD SE, and Volkswagen AG.
In addition, this role will be responsible for owning the payment process and for overseeing the relationship with the VW Group of America Tax and Treasury departments to ensure compliance and funding requirements are met and managing export control and transfer pricing.
Role Responsibilities:
Corporate Controlling, Planning, Budgeting, Forecasting & KPI Reporting — 30%
- Help develop and maintain Corporate Finance-related functions and processes of CARIAD Inc., incl. Accounting, Controlling (Planning, Budgeting, Forecast), Treasury, and Tax – partially provided by 3rd parties, mostly by (but not limited to) VWGoA. This also includes the accurate allocation of fixed costs.
- Participate, review and approval of Planning Rounds, Budgets (AOP), monthly Forecasts and any other relevant financial data.
- Design and alignment with key stakeholders for Corporate Controlling and Accounting and Reporting functions. These functions include but are not limited to the following: Planning Round, Budgeting, Forecasting and KPI reporting.
- Provide leadership with financial consulting and strategic collaboration regarding corporate finance- and Budgeting-related questions
Accounting Close, Reporting Delivery & Continuity — 30%
- Lead month-end accounting close activities, serving as primary liaison with Accounting Services.
- Ensure business continuity for financial reporting.
Treasury, Liquidity, Funding & Payments — 20%
- Manage company liquidity
- Oversee all funding-related questions together with VW Group’s RTC (Regional Treasury Center)
- Oversee (vendor) payment process and approvals.
Tax Compliance, Policy Adherence & Service Provider / Systems Governance — 20%
- Manage company tax obligations working with external teams
- Manage SLAs and relationships with service providers, e.g. VW Group entities and functions such as Diconium (SAP), VWGoA Tax, VWGoA Treasury, and the Accounting Shared Services Center in Canada.
- Ensure adherence to CARIAD financial policies, compliance with all tax requirements and the related alignments with relevant service providers.
- Collaborate with service provider to set up relevant finance modules within the SAP S/4Hana environment and manage the links and interfaces to other VW Group entities.
General Skills:
- Strong analytical skills (e.g. variance analysis, scenario cost analysis)
- Ability to establish, develop, implement and improve financial processes and procedures
- Perform highly complex work assignments using domain knowledge and extensive business expertise
- Proven self-starter who can work independently and is willing to assume a leadership role
- Concise and effective communication skills
- Experience in mentoring and training less experienced colleagues
- Ability to manage multiple deliverables simultaneously
- Strong computer proficiency, especially in Excel, PowerPoint and Word
Required Specialized Skills:
- Strong knowledge of financial principles, practices, and regulations.
- Basic understanding of IFRS
- SAP FICO or S4/HANA experience
- Advanced Microsoft Excel knowledge
- Proficiency in financial software and ERP systems.
- Controlling skill set
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to adapt quickly to changing demands.
Desired Skills:
- Ability to speak and write German
Workplace Flexibility:
- Some travel required within North America – approximately 15%
- Must be able to work outside standard working hours as needed
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
Years of Relevant Experience:
- 10+ years of experience in Financial Planning and Analysis or Accounting disciplines
Required Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or a related field
Desired Education:
- Masters of Business Administration, Masters of Finance/Accounting/Economics, Certified Professional Accountant (CPA) or other professional accounting designation
Compensation
Salary range is dependent on factors such as geographical differentials, credentials or certifications, industry-based experience, qualification and training. In the city of Mountain View CA, the salary range for this position is $187,779.00 - $229,950.00.
