About the role
We are looking for a Medical Scientific Liaison professional to work in Respiratory, Immunology & Inflammation unit, with experience with biological treatments for patients with respiratory diseases..
Job Purpose:
- Through in-field scientific engagement with healthcare providers and external experts in respiratory diseases the Medical Science Liaison (MSL) fosters a more educated healthcare environment by:
- Communicating their deep knowledge of GSK data in biologic therapies in the context of overall patient care to ensure evidence-based understanding of the science behind GSK medicines.
- Gathering valuable insights on GSK products and services, and on competitor biologics, and on medical and scientific information to better understand patient needs and evidence gaps and to inform medical strategy.
Key Responsibilities:
- Engage in one-to-one scientific dialogue with external experts and other key healthcare professionals around GSK’s biologic therapies in respiratory diseases, enabling them to confidently discuss our portfolio with patients and the wider medical community and ensuring they are knowledgeable in identifying the right patient for the most appropriate medicines. Support deep scientific exchange, medical partnerships and clinical research in this field.
- Act as an expert speaker at scientific events and meetings with external experts to disseminate information to larger groups of healthcare providers while stimulating clinical dialogue to gain different views and perspectives. Act as the interface between the professional healthcare community and the internal GSK medical team and its affiliates to bring in value-added insights that inform GSK Medical, Commercial, and Research & Development activities , especially relevant for launch execution. Effective capture and use of medical insights.
- Respond to unsolicited requests for Medical Information from healthcare providers in a fair, factual, balanced, and scientifically rigorous manner via the appropriate and preferred channel. Foster a collaborative working relationship with Medical Representatives and Commercial colleagues.
- Partner with matrix colleagues (e.g. sales, marketing, market access, etc.) to ensure strategies and business plan are both patient and business focused, and adding value to the external expert. Contribute to launch plans from a medical perspective by bringing in insights and aligning scientific activities with launch objectives. Partner with ClinOps to establish early scientific relationship in research with EE/Investigators and to bring quality insights that shape future development for the benefit of patients.
- Provide scientific education training for business partners such as the Medical Representatives by being the local scientific expert for a biologic medicine or group of biologic medicines in respiratory diseases. Maintain a level of expertise in the evolving scientific/therapeutic area and in competitor medicines, particularly in a competitive launch environment.
- Attend scientific meetings and congresses to keep abreast of the evolving science in a therapy area and to confidently debate and discuss the science with external experts as presented at the meeting, identifying key messages and opportunities to improve the medical strategy.
Knowledge/ Education / Previous Experience Required:
- Higher degree in life sciences: PhD, MSc or equivalent.
- Other professional healthcare provision qualification with experience (e.g. nurse practitioner, physician, surgeon, physiotherapist or pharmacist).
- At least 5 years of pharmaceutical industry experience in medical affairs working with biologic treatments.
- Strong academic background having participated in or led research projects and authored publications.
- Solid experience as MSL or related positions in medical affairs at the product launch stage.
- Demonstrable experience in scientific engagement with external experts (KOLs) and managing long-term relationships in the field of respiratory diseases and/or related areas.
- Residence in Cataluña.
