About the role

Goal of Function:

  • Responsible for ensuring procurement services are successfully delivered to the organization according to agreed service levels, collaboration model and following the company Policies and Procedures. This role ensures business continuity, and safeguards governance, alignment, and timely escalation management. 
  • The Procurement Operations and Deployment Senior Specialist represent Procurement and acts as the Business Partner for country and / or MSC sites’ Business Leaders.  Serve as the single point of contact (SPOC) for the business and support the achievement of business objectives. 
  • The Procurement Operations and Deployment Senior Specialist enable smooth interaction between the Business, the Procurement teams (GBS, Sourcing Hub, Category Management), and other Functions ensuring consistent execution of processes and effective issue resolution. Serve as the primary escalation point for Procurement and Supplier issues.
  • Ensure efficient and effective ways of working, including the deployment of Procurement standards, IT systems and tools supporting the achievement of business objectives.

Functional Collaboration:

  • Provide input to the development of the Country and / or MSC site Procurement Plans and sourcing initiatives
  • Ensure Procurement governance at country and or MSC site level in alignment with global standards, policies, and processes.
  • Ensure compliance with core Procurement activities, including contracting, commercial approvals, and policy adherence.
  • Informs on capacity constraints to his/her manager and adjust priorities according to FME needs
  • Assess and propose optimization programs
  • Represent Procurement in Countries’ and / or MSC site audit programs, review and approve findings and is responsible for executing corrective actions as agreed in the Audit report
  • Interface between the Sourcing Hub representative and Country and / or MSC site Business Partners
  • Supports the creation and/or execution of categories’ strategies

Business Partnering

  • Act as the Business Partner for country and / or MSC site leadership, ensuring Procurement support meets business needs
  • Monitor end-to-end process execution (as performed by GBS, Sourcing Hub, Categories) and intervene when performance or governance gaps appear. 
  • Guide requesters in adherence to Procurement Policy.
  • Represents Procurement in the country and / or MSC site and participates in country and / or MSC site Leadership Meetings. Present projects and/or performance updates to the country leadership, steering committees, and country governance bodies.
  • Understand Business priorities and adapt activities to that
  • Participates in Financial planning activities and reports accordingly

Procurement Operations

  • Identify areas of improvement in the country and / or MSC site spend
  • Identify potential suppliers and inform Sourcing Hub
  • Conduct supplier relationship management activities at country and / or MSC site level, including business review meetings and audits
  • Support specific negotiations or provide advice to Sourcing Hub, including clarification of business requirements
  • Participate in key suppliers’ business review meetings ensuring improvement action plans are followed up until finalization
  • Deploy and implement Global/Regional contracts in the country and / or MSC site. Track adoption progress, identify risks or bottlenecks and escalate issues to Deployment Lead and to Sourcing Hub
  • Lead projects at Country and / or MSC Level
  • Serve as the primary escalation point for operational Procurement issues. Requires support to management or Procurement Service Delivery team for resolution of process related issues.
  • Identify, manage and report risks and dependencies impacting business continuity or Fresenius Medical Care (FME)
  • Ensure timely resolution of cross-functional issues involving GBS, Sourcing Hub, Category Management, and local markets.
  • Facilitate connectivity between the business, GBS, the Sourcing Hub, and Category teams to ensure aligned priorities.
  • Provide insight and feedback to global/regional Procurement teams on operational performance, bottlenecks, and improvement needs.
  • Support readiness and adoption activities related to new processes, tools, or organizational changes.
  • Monitor and report KPIs, performance metrics, and risk indicators for deployment teams and country and / or MSC site Procurement activities. Responsible for delivering Procurement (or other Functions) projects impacting procurement activities, including the deployment of Procurement technology roadmap
  • Ensure best practices are documented, shared and stored according to established processes
  • If required and, in alignment with the Sourcing Hub responsible for the country, conduct end-to-end negotiations or sourcing events

Qualifications, experience, know-how and skills critical for success

1) Required training and education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Finance or Engineering, required
  • Master’s in business administration (MBA) or equivalent, is an advantage
  • Procurement or Supply Chain certification is an advantage
  • Project management certification is an advantage
  • Commercial law certification is an advantage

2) Required professional experience (in years):

  • +10 years of experience in procurement, including purchasing and/or category management and/or contract life cycle management processes
  • +5 years worked in a multinational environment
  • Experience on project management and continuous improvement
  • Strong understanding of procurement operating models, system and tools, governance, and end-to-end processes.
  • Managerial experience is an advantage

a) Functional knowledge

  • Comprehensive knowledge of Procurement policies and procedures
  • Good relationships’ management skills.
  • Technical knowledge of performance measurement and tracking
  • Project management expertise with the ability to carry projects from planning through implementation.
  • Financial Planning, including Budget

b) IT skills

  • Advanced knowledge of SAP, SAP Ariba, Power BI and A/P Invoice processing tools
  • Knowledge of e-sourcing (e.g. Jaggaer), contract life-cycle management (e.g. Contract PodAI) and other Procurement related tools (e.g. Sievo, ORO Labs, Aravo, Sustainability)
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Tools XlS including Pivot tables, Power Point, Word. MS Teams

c)  Languages

  • English fluent and full business proficiency
  • Local Language depending on the country

5) Special personal requirements:

  • Flexible working hours to cover global time zones if needed
  • Must be willing to travel up to 10% of their time
  • Attendance at office at a minimum of 3 times per week
