Cloud & AI Platform Solution Engineer

Are you passionate about data, AI, and solving complex enterprise challenges? Join Microsoft as a Cloud & AI Platform (CAIP) Data Solution Engineer supporting strategic enterprise customers across Australia.

As part of Microsoft’s Customer and Partner Solutions (MCAPS) organisation, you’ll work within a globally connected Solution Engineering team, partnering with colleagues across regions while acting as a key technical voice locally.

In this pre-sales, technical sales role, you’ll help customers design and implement modern data platforms and AI-driven solutions on Azure unlocking value across analytics, governance, and AI. You’ll translate Microsoft’s Data + AI platform (including Fabric, Databricks, Purview, and AI Foundry) into real business outcomes and guide customers towards secure, scalable, production-ready architectures.

As a trusted technical advisor, you will:

• Lead data-led transformation conversations with business and technical decision-makers
• Drive end-to-end scenarios across Data + AI, with integration into Apps + AI
• Help customers make confident technology decisions in highly competitive environments

This role requires deep expertise in Data and strong working capability across Apps + AI, combining technical depth with commercial impact in a highly visible, enterprise-focused role.

• Drive technical sales and solution design
  Lead customer engagements using demos, PoCs, and architecture workshops to land scalable Data + AI solutions.
• Own Data platform strategy conversations
  Guide customers across modern data estate design, including analytics, governance, and AI-infused data workloads.
• Deliver hands-on engagements
  Run hackathons, MVPs, and architecture design sessions to accelerate production adoption.
• Build trusted advisor relationships
  Partner with data leaders, architects, and engineering teams to co-design secure, governed, and scalable platforms.
• Resolve blockers and influence roadmap
  Address technical objections and collaborate with engineering to improve Microsoft offerings.

• Maintain deep technical expertise (Data-first focus)

• Advanced (400-level) in:
• Microsoft Fabric (OneLake, Real-Time Intelligence, Data Warehouse, Power BI, Copilot)
• Azure Databricks
• Data Governance (Purview)
• Azure databases (SQL, Cosmos DB, PostgreSQL)
• Working (200–300 level) in:
• AI Foundry / Azure AI
• App patterns (APIs, microservices, event-driven, agentic workflows)

• • Represent Microsoft externally
    Contribute to thought leadership across Data & AI communities and customer forums.

Required Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in technical pre-sales, consulting, development, or data platform engineering
• Demonstrated 400-level expertise in Data platforms and analytics
• 200–300 level familiarity with Apps + AI architectures (AI services, APIs, app integration patterns)
• Proven ability to engage enterprise customers and influence technical decision-makers
• Strong ability to align technical solutions with business outcomes
• Experience leading technical engagements (PoCs, MVPs, architecture design sessions)

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with or selling into professional services organisations (e.g. Big 4, consulting, advisory firms)
• Experience with end-to-end data modernization (data estate, governance, analytics, AI integration)
• Hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric, Databricks, and Purview
• Familiarity with AI-assisted development and agentic scenarios (e.g., Copilot, AI workflows)
• Experience working across data + application integration scenarios
• Ability to shape customer strategy through technical leadership
