The Position

Business Intelligence (BI) Lead

Roche India – Roche Services & Solutions

Hyderabad or Chennai

A healthier future. It’s what drives us to innovate. To continuously advance science and ensure everyone has access to the healthcare they need today and for generations to come. Creating a world where we all have more time with the people we love.

That’s what makes us Roche.

Roche has established the Global Analytics and Technology Center of Excellence (GATE) at Chennai to drive analytics & technology-driven solutions by partnering with Roche affiliates across the globe.

The Opportunity

As a Business Intelligence (BI) Lead, you will drive the end to end delivery of Business Intelligence solutions while serving as the go-to person in conversations with our partners. This is a true leadership role. The ideal candidate brings the right blend of technical depth and business understanding to navigate conversations around feasibility, data challenges, tool selection, and delivery timelines with confidence, keeping discussions productive and moving forward. Beyond responding to what is asked, you will be a thought partner to our stakeholders, proactively suggesting better approaches to visualizing data, identifying more meaningful KPIs, and recommending data sources or methods that stakeholders may not have considered.

All Roche employees are expected to effectively contribute to cross-functional collaboration and coordination and comply with all laws, regulations, policies & procedures that govern our business.

As a Business Intelligence (BI) Lead, you will:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for business leaders to gather requirements, manage expectations, and provide transparent project timelines across multiple workstreams

  • Assess and recommend the right BI approach for a given problem, considering data availability, platform capabilities, and business context, and communicate trade-offs clearly to non-technical audiences

  • Drive the design and delivery of enterprise-grade BI applications (Tableau), ensuring scalability, performance, security and data governance

  • Lead data discovery sessions to identify new data sources and ensure the underlying data warehouse architecture supports long-term BI reporting needs

  • Guide the translation of business requirements into analytics prototypes that provide meaningful business and data insights

  • Oversee data and BI analysis efforts, including review of source systems, KPI definitions and aggregations, ensuring quality and consistency

  • Review and guide the development of Tableau applications, ensuring reporting components from multiple data sources are integrated effectively

  • Create and understand Figma-based prototypes to understand the "user journey" of data. Translate these designs into functional KPIs for BI developers

  • Provide oversight of the end to end BI ecosystem (Desktop, Server, and Cloud), ensuring best practices in dashboard performance, security and scalability

  • Mentor and guide team members, fostering a collaborative environment and contributing to overall team growth

Who you are

  • You hold a Bachelor's or Master's Degree in a relevant field (Computer Science, Engineering or other technical disciplines) and 7+ years of experience in Business Intelligence, with a progressive shift from hands-on development to leading delivery and stakeholder engagement

  • Strong foundation in Tableau development, dashboarding, data modeling and reporting techniques, with the ability to guide and review the work of others

  • A consultative mindset, with the ability to assess feasibility, identify data challenges, and proactively suggest improvements in how data is used, visualized, or measured

  • Experience in developing and overseeing BI solutions supporting sales performance reporting

  • Experience in optimizing dashboards with a focus on usability, performance, flexibility and standardization

  • Experience in data modeling, data cleansing and data transformation activities.

  • Experience in end to end implementation of BI projects for developing a portfolio of scorecards, KPIs, reports & dashboards

  • Experience in writing and debugging SQL queries

  • Strong communication skills with the confidence to lead discussions and articulate technical constraints to business audiences

  • Experience guiding or mentoring a team of BI developers

  • Prior experience or knowledge of pharmaceuticals or healthcare industry landscape is an added advantage
