Location:

This position is based in Milton, Ontario, Canada, at Thermo Fisher Scientific’s facility located at 95 Market Drive — a logistics and export operations site where outbound domestic and international shipping and trade compliance activities are performed .

Summary:

Responsible for handling outbound domestic and international shipping including packing and labeling shipments. Involves comprehensive management of export trade compliance duties for the company and requires familiarity with local and international Government regulations. Primary responsibility is to ensure the highest level of quality order fulfillment through order receipt to product delivery of Thermo Fisher products.

Essential Functions:

• Prepare and process required export documentation including but not limited to commercial invoices, export declaration, certificates of origin and/or CUSMA, bills of lading, and advanced ship notices.

• Resolve the eligibility of various Free Trade Agreements. • Organize and follow up with internal/external customers.

• Co-ordinate releases with QA for shipments.

• Update SAP for billing purposes and scanning.

• Wrap, tape, and prepare small shipments.

• Monitor, maintain and operate CBSA websites and tools (i.e. CERS, HS Tariff Schedule, etc.)

• Actively participate in (CBSA) Customs, and internal Audits and other major projects as required

• Act as the Export Coordinator for trade compliance activities.

• Conduct restricted party screening of business partners.

• Review and follow the requirements of the Company's Global Trade Compliance Policy and the Global Trade Compliance Management System.

• Maintain a safe working environment and reports potential hazards.

• Perform alternating or rotating shift work as required.

• Travel to offsite warehouse location is required

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

• High school diploma or equivalent required

Experience:

• Minimum 1 year of experience in export regulations, documentation, and compliance standards.

• Experience filing Canada Export Reports using CBSA websites

• SAP experience in the sales & distribution, planning and shipment module, preferred

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Familiarity with the Canada Customs Tariff and possess extensive knowledge of HTS classification.

• Highly organized and able to undertake and prioritize a multitude of tasks in a fast-paced environment.

• Strong attention to detail, highly efficient and effective time management skills.

• Work efficiently with limited supervision. • Strong oral and written communication skills.

• Dedicated to achieving outcomes.

• Strong interpersonal skills

• Proven computer proficiency with Microsoft Office programs.

• Proficiency with the English Language.

Equivalent combinations of education, training, and relevant work experience may be considered.

Follow all Environmental Health & Safety Policies and Procedures. Work collaboratively with fellow team members, modelling positive team principles and partnering to meet project and departmental objectives. Perform all duties within strict compliance with Patheon quality systems Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP). Maintain the workspace in a clean and orderly fashion.  Effectively engage in and adhere to departmental systems to maintain a smooth and efficient workflow (visual management, scheduling systems, etc.). Always be client and patient conscious. Understand Key Performance Indicators and strive to improve the performance of the team by identifying areas for system improvements and engage in problem solving. Model positive thinking and is open to change, motivating the team to adapt to shifts in priorities and new ways of working. Proactively identify areas for improvement in the execution of procedures. Communicate risks to timelines in an initiative-taking manner.  Consistently strives to improve skills and knowledge in related fields.  

Physical Requirements:

Light physical effort and fatigue. Walks, sits, or stands for limited periods. May require occasional equipment operation including keyboard equipment. Lifts light items for limited duration. Typically located in a comfortable indoor area. There may be exposure to mild physical discomfort from factors such as dust, fumes or odours, temperature extremes, loud noise, strong drafts, or bright lights. Use of Personal Protective equipment may be required and may include any of the following: safety glasses, safety shoes, lab coat, gloves, hair net, beard cover, safety apron, respirator occasionally. Compensation

The salary range estimated for this position based in Canada is $41,900.00–$62,900.00.
