The Senior Manager, Planner-Buyer will be primary responsible for materials planning and ordering requirements for the Devens Manufacturing facilities. The Sr. Manager, Planner-Buyer will execute materials planning, ordering and coordination of material release requirements in support of production and tech transfers into Devens. The Sr. Manager, Planner-Buyer will collaborate regularly with highly cross-functional teams including Manufacturing, Manufacturing Technology, Site Quality, Warehouse, Site Procurement and Category Management to ensure the appropriate parts are specified and available to support the manufacturing campaigns.   

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyzes Resins and Raw Materials primarily and to a small extent Consumable inventory and  accountable for maintaining sufficient safety stocks, reorder points and inventory projection used directly in Drug Substance manufacturing for both commercial and clinical products.
  • Provides input into weekly material priorities with site representatives from Manufacturing, Quality Assurance, Quality Control, Procurement, Category management, Technical Operations and Warehouse.
  • Accountable for metric and related improvements (Expedites, Disposal Requests, Parts below Safety Stock, Days on Hand amongst a few)
  • Accountable for creating Purchase Requisitions and Purchase Orders in SAP, placing orders with suppliers and expedite deliveries as needed as well as help resolve any invoice discrepancies.
  • Leads the Risk Triage meeting and by ensuring the material consumption patterns (Over or Under) are thoroughly evaluated to ensure correct Safety Stock and Reorder Points.
  • Reviews, prioritizes and schedules the delivery of raw materials & consumables to meet target dates and prevent stock shortages.  Collaborates with partner departments to ensure material availability in alignment with manufacturing schedule.
  • Assesses material risk and collaborates with site and network cross-functional teams for proposed mitigations.  Escalates to management and key stakeholders with proposed mitigation strategies as required.
  • Supports plant quality systems (Change controls, Deviations, assessments and CAPA) for material related issues if required.
  • Main representative for tech transfer projects for material planning and own continuous improvement activities to positively impact key performance metrics.
  • Maintain relevant master data and planning parameters as well as assists in site SAP support as required.
  • Responsible for providing forecast to vendors for long term capacity analysis.
  • Represents Material Planning in the strategic management review with top suppliers for raw materials used at Devens.
  • Will support supply chain staff in support of day-to-day or process improvement activities

Qualifications & Experience:

  • B.S. in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or science-related discipline.
  • A minimum of 8-10 years in a Supply Chain or Manufacturing role in a complex manufacturing environment with experience in production control/process orders/equivalent.
  • Experience and knowledge in Biologics manufacturing is preferred.
  • Experience in new product introduction strongly preferred.
  • Excellent knowledge in SAP strongly preferred.
  • Customer service mentality and attention to detail are essential elements for success. 
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities against ambitious timelines.

Compensation Overview:

Devens - MA - US: $123,900 - $150,133

The starting compensation range(s) for this role are listed above for a full-time employee (FTE) basis. Additional incentive cash and stock opportunities (based on eligibility) may be available. The starting pay rate takes into account characteristics of the job, such as required skills, where the job is performed, the employee’s work schedule, job-related knowledge, and experience. Final, individual compensation will be decided based on demonstrated experience.

Paid Time Off

  • US Exempt Employees: flexible time off (unlimited, with manager approval, 11 paid national holidays (not applicable to employees in Phoenix, AZ, Puerto Rico or Rayzebio employees)

  • Phoenix, AZ, Puerto Rico and Rayzebio Exempt, Non-Exempt, Hourly Employees: 160 hours annual paid vacation for new hires with manager approval, 11 national holidays, and 3 optional holidays

Based on eligibility*, additional time off for employees may include unlimited paid sick time, up to 2 paid volunteer days per year, summer hours flexibility, leaves of absence for medical, personal, parental, caregiver, bereavement, and military needs and an annual Global Shutdown between Christmas and New Years Day.

All global employees full and part-time who are actively employed at and paid directly by BMS at the end of the calendar year are eligible to take advantage of the Global Shutdown.

*Eligibility Disclosure: The summer hours program is for United States (U.S.) office-based employees due to the unique nature of their work. Summer hours are generally not available for field sales and manufacturing operations and may also be limited for the capability centers. Employees in remote-by-design or lab-based roles may be eligible for summer hours, depending on the nature of their work, and should discuss eligibility with their manager. Employees covered under a collective bargaining agreement should consult that document to determine if they are eligible. Contractors, leased workers and other service providers are not eligible to participate in the program.
