Job Description

Mission Statement & Summary

This role is a great opportunity for someone looking to start or build their career in HR. You don’t need a specific degree or formal HR qualification, instead, we’re looking for a positive, proactive individual with strong organisational skills and a confident, clear communication style.

Sitting at the heart of the People team, you’ll support our managers and colleagues with policies, systems, and data, while maintaining highquality and accurate colleague records.

Please note, this is a 6 month FTC, with the possibility to become permanent.

How you’ll contribute

  • Reviewing and responding to incoming queries in the People mailbox.

  • Using Workday to update colleague records, process tasks, and help enable smooth people processes.

  • Signposting colleagues and managers to self-serve content where appropriate, while stepping in with support when needed.

  • Flagging more complex or specialist queries to subject matter experts across the wider People team.

  • Supporting process improvements or project work to help make things simpler and smarter.

What you'll deliver

  • Provide clear, confident guidance to managers and colleagues on key People processes, supported by a strong understanding of policies, systems, and data.

  • Maintain accurate, high-quality colleague records in Workday, supporting a smooth and efficient colleague experience.

  • Help enhance our digital self-service journeys — making it easier for colleagues to get what they need, while being ready to step in with personal support when it matters.

  • Be a trusted point of contact for colleagues — from talking someone through their family leave options, to meetings with managers who need guidance.

  • Support People team projects and continuous improvement work, always looking for ways to make things simpler, smarter, and more people centred.

We’re looking for these essential skills

  • A positive attitude and a proactive, flexible approach to your work.

  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and solve problems effectively.

  • A continuous improvement mindset – always looking for smarter, simpler ways to do things.

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong, trusted relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.

  • The ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, always demonstrating discretion and integrity.

It’s a plus if you have these skills

  • Working in a financial services environment of a similar size.

  • Operating within a continuous improvement environment, including the use of automation.

  • Using Workday as an HR system.

What's in it for you?

  • 26 days holiday, rising to 30 with service

  • A holiday buy scheme (up to 5 extra days)

  • Double matched pension, with up to 14% from NewDay

  • Generous annual performance bonuses

  • Private medical insurance with Bupa, including mental health support and cancer care

  • 26 weeks paid maternity, adoption and shared parental leave

  • Free breakfast and lunch in the office every day, provided by our in-house chefs

…and more, which you can explore here!

At NewDay, we value all types of diversity. We’re an equal opportunity employer and believe that our differences create a vibrant, authentic working culture.
