Supervise warehouse operations and personnel for safe and efficient preparation of product for delivery to customers. Act as a first line manager direct associates to achieve accurate orders that are then staged and loaded on trucks. Directs the preparation of the warehouse for receiving. Directs the workforce in the efficient and timely unloading, receiving and replenishment of stock to ensure the warehouse is ready for shipping. Oversees will call. Assists in resolving personnel, organizational and equipment problems. Provides backup to Transportation Manager when needed.

RESPONSIBILITIES:   

  • Responsible for associate development through training on policy and policies Creates a cohesive organization by keeping lines of communication open. 
  • Monitors a variety of operational information, such as “mis-picks” and productivity reports, to insure individual order selectors and the entire shift are meeting rates and following preferred methods Takes action through coaching and counseling to correct behaviors. 
  • Involved in the interviewing, hiring, reviewing, schedules, disciplining and termination processes for warehouse personnel 
  • Ensure product is stocked in appropriate location, in a timely and efficient manner and in accordance with food safety and FIFO processes and procedures to create space on the dock and ensure a smooth flow of work.  Reviews reporting that impacts slotting and location accuracy. 
  • Monitor a variety of operational information on replenishment activity to ensure stock is available for the shipping crew to minimize/eliminate the potential for “shortages.” 
  • Communicate with buyers on stock shortages, overages, and damages to correct problems and to reduce customer shortages. 
  • Regularly inspects facility for safety hazards and either resolves them or reports them to the safety manger as appropriate Accountable for maintaining the physical condition of the warehouse and its equipment including forklifts Maintain physical condition and safety of warehouse and equipment, including preparing work orders for repairs and requisitions for equipment. 
  • Analyzes the current operations and makes recommendations to improve on issues regarding expenses and cost control. 
  • Works with operations management to identify sources of inventory shrinkage and assists in developing an action plan. 
  • Prepares various reports and forms such as credit slips, accident reports, computer invoices shift inspection reports, absence reports, timecards, repair orders and requisitions for replacement equipment. 
  • Perform a variety of miscellaneous tasks within the scope of assigned Essential Responsibilities as may be required from time-to-time by management representatives.  
  • Managing and cycle counting inventory to ensure accuracy. 
  • Oversight of all shipping and receiving activities to include loading and unloading of truck.

SUPERVISION  

This job supervises and provides work direction for the Warehouse Worker position. 

 

 

RELATIONSHIPS 

The incumbent is required to interact with associates at all levels of responsibility throughout the company as well as: 

  • Internal and External Customers 

  • Suppliers 

  • Vendors 

 

QUALIFICATIONS  

Education/Training High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required; college degree preferred PIT Certification preferred.  

 

Related Experience:   

A minimum of three years warehouse distribution and 2 years of experience managing hourly workforce and inventory control required. 

 

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Ability to interpret financial and operational data; Basic computer skills; Familiarity with inventory control, OSHA, HACCP and other regulatory requirements; Strong leadership, communication and people development skills; broad knowledge of warehouse operations, methods and procedures. Spanish speaking preferred.

Compensation depends on relevant experience and/or education, specific skills, function, geographic location, and other factors as applicable by law (for example: state or local minimum wage thresholds).  The expected base rate for this role is between

$50,000 - $80,000
