Job Description

Provide zoning and code knowledge, technical guidance, and innovative solutions to resolve complex technical and design issues. This includes developing and proposing multiple strategies and methods to innovatively approach the project’s design, as well as conceiving various design approaches by determining the types of building systems and materials to be used on the project. Lead all project phases to drive client projects from concept through design development and then through construction documents, permitting, and construction administration. Collaborate and communicate with internal design team, clients, consultants, contractors, fabricators, vendors and regulatory agencies to resolve complex technical and design issues to meet overall project objectives. Lead pre-design tasks, including occupancy studies, zoning analyses, and stakeholder engagement to develop space programs and project goals. Once the designs are developed, prepare and produce detailed 2D/3D drawings and specifications that ensure that the client, project team and contractors can easily comprehend designs. Lead aspects of the construction administration phase of the project relevant to documentation responsibilities, including ensuring contractor compliance with construction documents and project manual, responding to substitution requests and RFI’s (requests for information), reviewing shop drawings and submittals by contractor and advising on design corrections. Lead documentation coordination with full consultant teams such as structural, MEP, lighting, AV, acoustic, landscape, civil and other consultants.
