The Director of the Private Debt Team provides strategic leadership and operational oversight to a team of 35 professionals, ensuring high‑quality service delivery across the private debt lifecycle. The role drives strong governance, regulatory compliance, and client satisfaction while optimising processes and controls. It focuses on building a high‑performing team, enhancing scalability, and supporting the firm’s strategic growth within the private debt offering.
Strategic & Operational Leadership
Lead and manage the operational teams, holding full accountability for budget, performance, and delivery standards across the Private Debt platform.
Oversee the output of both local teams and internal service providers, ensuring strong governance, accurate reporting, and adherence to agreed service levels.
Assume directorships or mandates in client entities where required, ensuring full compliance with Luxembourg legal, regulatory, and governance obligations.
Identify and support global cross‑selling opportunities to strengthen the firm’s commercial footprint.
People Leadership, Coaching & Team Development
Supervise, guide, and mentor Team Leaders, including regular touchpoints, work reviews, and performance discussions.
Define annual objectives and OKRs for Team Leaders, ensuring structured follow‑up throughout the year.
Support training, upskilling, and career development plans in collaboration with HR, ensuring capabilities evolve with business needs.
Ensure Team Leaders maintain up‑to‑date knowledge on legal, accounting, corporate tax, and industry regulations.
Promote a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement, while fostering a positive and supportive team environment.
Maintain deep understanding of industry trends and client investments to ensure high‑quality servicing.
Client Service Excellence
Oversee day‑to‑day operations, ensuring timely, accurate, and high‑quality service delivery across all client mandates.
Monitor and challenge deliverables from internal and external service providers, ensuring alignment with SLAs and client expectations.
Proactively resolve technical, operational, or organisational issues, escalating when required.
Build strong client relationships in partnership with Team Leaders and Relationship Managers, maintaining regular oversight of client satisfaction.
Business Development & External Representation
Represent the firm at seminars, conferences, and industry events to enhance market visibility and networking.
Participate in client visits, feedback sessions, and relationship‑building activities to strengthen client partnerships.
Lead engagement with existing and prospective service providers, acting as deal captain during negotiations and onboarding.
Be a role model, take responsibility and lead by example, live and promote the corporate values of APEX
Provides clear leadership, coaching, and guidance to build a strong, high‑performing team.
Builds effective relationships with colleagues, clients, and third‑party providers across locations.
Communicates with clarity and authority, adapting style to different audiences.
Maintains deep sector expertise and thorough understanding of legal, accounting, and regulatory requirements.
Demonstrates strong problem‑solving skills, sound judgment, and a solutions‑oriented mindset.
Promotes a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Shares in‑depth knowledge of client structures and ensures effective knowledge transfer within the team.
Shows strong business acumen and a strategic mindset, identifying opportunities to enhance service delivery and growth.
Education & Relevant Experience
University‑level degree in Law, Accounting, Finance, or another relevant field.
Minimum 10-15 years of experience within a professional services environment
At least 8 years in a senior managerial or leadership position, leading large teams and overseeing complex client portfolios.
Proven expertise in private debt, fund operations, or related financial services disciplines is considered a strong asset.
