William Blair’s GP-led Secondary Advisory team of experts provide financial sponsors and their investors with holistic, bespoke solutions across all stages of the private equity lifecycle. The private equity community relies on us for guidance and expertise when navigating GP-led transactions (e.g., single- and multi-asset continuation vehicles, spin-outs & spin-ins, strip sales, NAV loans, tender offers and other transaction types). An Analyst in GP-led secondaries will help lead in-depth analyses to support our pursuit of high-quality transactions, and in doing so, facilitate deal execution, potential client pitching, and investor management.
Responsibilities include but may not be limited to:
- Help assemble extensive financial models to analyze GP-led transactions utilizing thoughtful due diligence and leveraging broad understanding of valuation and broad finance/accounting topics.
- Prepare presentation materials to clients and prospects, which exhibit broad knowledge of secondary market product solutions and underlying components.
- Facilitate due diligence, research, analysis and documentation of potential and live transactions. Anticipate potential deal issues and pass concerns through to team members in real time.
- Help manage the investor process, monitoring and actively tracking investor activity
- Engage with team members in the development of marketing materials that highlight William Blair’s competitive advantages and overall product knowledge.
- Mentor summer interns and invest in teaching subsequent classes of analysts, imparting best practices.
- Additional responsibilities as requested.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree required
- Prior investment banking experience required (ideally, in a secondary advisory role)
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical abilities
- Deep, sophisticated understanding of accounting and finance
- Excellent mathematical, writing, verbal and computer skills
- Ability to adapt to new tasks
- Ability to manage expectations of senior bankers while working on multiple projects simultaneously
- Effective leadership and coaching skills
- Strong desire to win and commitment to excellence
- Sound judgement and reasoning abilities
- SIE Exam, Series 79, and Series 63 must be acquired within 150 days of employment

Actual base salary within the specified range is based on several factors, including but not limited to applicant's skills, prior relevant experience, specific degrees and certifications, job responsibilities, market considerations and, if applicable, the location of the position.
This role is eligible for either a discretionary annual bonus (based on company, business unit and individual performance) and/or commission-based incentives.
