Kennel Technician

Job Summary:
The Kennel Technician provides compassionate care for animals by feeding, cleaning, exercising, and monitoring their health and behavior. This role supports veterinarians, veterinary technicians, and other staff by maintaining a clean facility and ensuring the well-being of all animals in care.

Key Responsibilities

• Feed and provide fresh water to animals according to established schedules.
• Clean and sanitize kennels, cages, runs, litter boxes, and animal living areas.
• Monitor animals for signs of illness, injury, or unusual behavior and report concerns to supervisors.
• Administer medications as instructed.
• Assist with animal restraint during examinations and treatments.
• Wash bedding, dishes, and equipment.
• Maintain accurate records of feeding, medication, and animal care activities.
• Follow all safety, sanitation, and animal handling procedures.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous experience working with animals is an asset but not always required.
• Ability to safely handle dogs and cats of various sizes and temperaments.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Dependable, compassionate, and detail-oriented.
• Basic knowledge of animal behavior and health is preferred.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 pounds.
• Comfortable working around animals of all sizes and temperaments.
• Ability to work in environments with noise, odors, and cleaning chemicals.
• Willingness to work weekends, holidays, and rotating shifts as needed.
